A four-record, British box set from Demon containing the catalogue album and three records with material previously published only on rare, expensive vinyl from the Tenth Planet label, from 1965-1969. Recorded in spring/summer 1968, but released only at the end of 1969, the LP "Introspection" (produced by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones) is one of the most important achievements of British psychedelia. The album belongs in the same league as records kept in a similar vein, such as The Zombies' "Odessey And Oracle", Small Faces' "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake", The Who's "Sell Out", or the sole album by the band Tomorrow. Afterwards the band transformed into Tucky Buzzard and recorded at least three great (and two weaker) albums! A must! (JL) -

Epitaph was at first a mixed, British-German band - only over the years transformed into an exclusively German one. Released in 1971 by Polydor, the band's great debut album (with British vocals) contained a rather thunderous dose of bluesy, catchy-guitar-riff-based, heavy progressive rock (Mellotron, Hammond) of the highest shelf. This record has been with me for the last 30 years and needs no recommendation! 2024 reissue, on black vinyl, limited to 400 copies. A must! (JL) -

A great, genuinely progressive album - without a doubt one of the best ever made in France. A very well produced and arranged combination of the style of early Family, Jethro Tull and Traffic (including flute, saxophone, violin) - with a good deal of instrumental parts. The vocals are rather manic - in the style of Roger Chapman. A very tasteful edition with a thick booklet and four bonuses. Highly recommended! (JL) -

The second and third albums on a single CD. Esperanto is a very nice (almost) British band, performing a very eclectic, generally progressive variety of rock with dominant, somewhat manic violin parts backed by a rich keyboard sound. The much better 'second' (that is, Danse Macabre) is in the vein of recordings by King Crimson, ELP and P.F.M. The third album is very good only in half, but as a whole I decidedly recommend it! -

Excellent production and superb sound quality, and the album was once released by CBS/Columbia. Highly recommended! -

Juicy riff-driven playing with plenty of classicising guitar parts! Once again I repeat - forget "The Final Countdown" - here the band played quite differently! -
