YAMASHTA, STOMU - STOMU YAMASHTA - Seasons - Island Albums 1972-1976 (7CD) - UK Esoteric Remastered Editionprice: 230,00 PLN / 57,50 EUR
A seven-disc box set from 2022, containing the albums recorded by the Japanese drummer and keyboardist for the Island label: "Floating Music" from 1972, "Man From The East" and "Freedom Is Frightening" from 1973, "One By One" from 1974 and "Raindog" from 1975, as well as the records sometimes credited as the group Go, the first of them as the trio Stomu Yamashta/Steve Winwood/Michael Shrieve - the studio "Go" and the live "Go... Live From Paris", both from 1976. Yamashta's music is very good, progressive, extended playing with distinct elements of jazz and should appeal to fans of such artists as Soft Machine, Nucleus, Can, Gong, Isotope or Gilgamesh, and even admirers of the first Skin Alley record. All the albums have been remastered, and the whole thing comes in a rigid box, with an attractive, 40-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! (MU) -

YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Hiro Yanagida (2nd Album) - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Japanese rock of the early 70s is one of the most interesting things I have heard, and Hiro Yanagida was probably the most important and most creative figure of that scene! Known from projects such as Apryl Fool, Foodbrain, Love Live Life + One and Shinki Chen And His Friends, the artist created very original, at times slightly crazy music inspired by works of classical music, the avant-garde, and above all British psychedelic/progressive rock. Like the debut LP "Milk Time", released in 1970, the album "Hiro Yanagida" (sometimes called "Nanasai No Rohjin Tengoku"), made in 1971, is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock all the way to classical-leaning miniatures) based as a rule on the sound of the Hammond organ and heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar (the excellent Kimio Mizutani - I recommend his solo LP from 1971). This largely instrumental album is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! Lovers of the first album will also be delighted with this album! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Milk Time - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This is one of literally a few best rock records made in Japan in the early 70s! The debut of this Japanese keyboardist, released at the end of 1970 (recorded with, among others, members of Speed Glue & Shinki and Flied Egg), is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock to early fusion to classical-leaning, delicate miniatures) based as a rule on the sound of the Hammond organ, the virtuoso, melodic, yet warm sound of the violin and the heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar of the excellent Kimio Mizutani (playing a little in the style of Can's guitarist), but there is also the sound of violin and even harpsichord. This entirely instrumental album (worth 1000-1200 dollars in the ultra-rare original on the Liberty label) is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! And that splendid sleeve (with a copy of the original insert reproduced inside a gatefold booklet)... Great, clear sound - slightly better than on earlier editions! A must! Condition: New, sealed. LP
YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Live Yardbirds Featuring Jimmy Page - EU Timeless Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A reissue of a legendary album recorded in March 1968 and released by American and Canadian Epic in 1971. Unfortunately, after just a few days the LP was withdrawn from sale following Jimmy Page's fierce objection, which of course instantly turned the record into a considerable rarity. The Yardbirds, playing as a quartet, appear here as a thoroughbred psychedelic band that on the one hand still remembers its rhythm 'n' blues roots, but plays with rock verve and does not shy away from long improvisations - just as befits 1968! The band even plays "I'm Confused" here - an early version of "Dazed And Confused" (a song Page took in 1967 from one Jake Holmes). This is sensational material and, to be quite honest, alongside the 1966 album and the classic singles it is without doubt the best thing this wonderful band ever recorded! Seriously - this is an obligatory LP for every rock fan, also because of the good (though not perfect) sound quality. Stiff, laminated cardboard sleeve, heavy vinyl. New - sealed. A must! (JL) -

ANALOGUE SOUND! A very rare first British edition (from 1985; earlier the record came out only in the USA, Canada, Germany and New Zealand) of the band's last studio album, from 1967 (with Jimmy Page on guitar), a very underrated pop-psychedelic-rock masterpiece (still with blues influences). Perfect condition! Sleeve: MINT- / Record: MINT- -

The long-awaited CD edition of the legendary album recorded in March 1968 and released by American and Canadian Epic in 1971. Unfortunately, after just a few days the LP was withdrawn from sale following fierce opposition from Jimmy Page, which of course made the record a considerable rarity on the spot. Playing as a quartet, the Yardbirds appear here as a genuine psychedelic formation, on the one hand still mindful of their rhythm'n'blues roots, but playing with rock verve and not shying away from long improvisations - as befitted 1968! YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Roger The Engineer - EU 180g Mono Pressprice: 130,00 PLN / 32,50 EUR
A brilliant, second British album, commonly known as "Roger The Engineer". It is hard to believe that it was the only studio, British, catalogue album! At the same time the title was the band's peak achievement and also the quintessence of the freakbeat style and a bridge between beat/rhythm'n'blues and psychedelia! A must! -
CD
YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Ultimate Live At The BBC (4CD) - EU Repertoire Remastered MONO Editionprice: 190,00 PLN / 47,50 EUR
A four-disc set containing three CDs with material from the Jeff Beck era, while the fourth documents the period when Jimmy Page replaced him. Over the last 25 years several editions of Yardbirds BBC material have appeared, but 30 of the tracks included here have not been heard since they were broadcast, and almost all the rest are marked either by a huge improvement in quality, or at least sound better compared with previous releases.
