The record was originally released in 1971 by Decca and perfect copies cost over 300 euros. This limited and excellent-sounding reissue has been extended by two tracks from the 1970 debut single (not available on CD)! A must! -

The "Best Of" compilation by Puhdys, one of the best-known rock bands from the former GDR, shows the group above all as an efficient, thoroughbred rock band with a very distinctive sound. Classic, guitar-driven arrangements dominate here - solid riffs, clear, melodic solos and a clearly rooted rhythm section. Tracks such as "Ikarus" or "Geh zu ihr" rest on a strong foundation of bass and drums, over which broad, slightly pompous vocal lines are built. The sound is tight but not heavy - it is mainstream rock, with a clear emphasis on melody and chorus. A characteristic element is also the keyboards, which in many recordings subtly complement the guitar, giving the whole a slightly spacious, at times almost symphonic shade. In the ballads the tempo slows down and the arrangements become more sparing, but the band avoids excessive sweetness - even the calmer tracks have a distinct rock backbone. The production is typical of its time - clear, without excessive compression, with a natural sound of the instruments. Thanks to this the compilation sounds coherent and authentic, and its greatest strength remains the band's craftsmanship: a feel for melody, proportion and dynamics. It is a set that shows Puhdys as a mature, classic rock band - without experiments, but with great musical consistency and a recognisable style. New, sealed. -

The only, but genuinely great, album by an American-Italian, hard-progressive, slightly jazzy formation led by drummer and vocalist Carlo Mastrangelo (known in the business from his collaboration with Dion!). The music on this CD is well-produced, juicy and quite heavyish prog rock based on the sound of guitars, organs, fairly dense drumming and the leader's nice, strong vocal. Wind instruments also appear occasionally. This is one of the best American records of this kind! Highly recommended! -

Released at the beginning of 1969 (by ABC Records) and produced by Eddie Kramer, the only album by this great American trio was a superb combination of heavy, Hendrix-style psychedelia with blues and a little psychedelic folk. Interestingly, the nearly 10-minute, heavyish blues is the weakest track on this record free of filler! Guitars dominated everywhere: overdriven, distorted and at times acoustic - backed by lively drumming and nice, energetic vocals. The album will certainly delight lovers of raw, guitar-driven playing from the late 60s in the vein of Hendrix and also Lincoln St. Exit, Euclid, Frost and Savage Resurrection. Highly recommended! -

Released in 1977, the debut album of the later classics of the NWOBHM movement, in the style of later Black Sabbath recordings. It is no wonder, since the whole thing was produced (and Tony Iommi himself had a hand in the music) by none other than Tony Iommi, while the band's leader at the time was Geoff Nicholls, playing guitar and keyboards - later a long-time collaborator of the Sabs. The superb opening track "Mainline Raiders" uncannily recalls "Heaven And Hell", which came three years later... A British 2018 edition, no longer in production, in a gatefold sleeve, on red vinyl.
