A very good, decidedly progressive album recorded with the participation of Billy Joel! The author of Piano Man and Uptown Girl, later known for being tedious, careered here on an overdriven and exuberant Hammond as if the world were ending, accompanied by a pal thrashing hard on the drums... I apologise for this style, but the playing is genuinely rocking, the tracks quite catchy and strongly improvised and the sound decidedly European - not far from Deep Purple. You do not feel the lack of guitar here at all! I highly recommend this album, since it would be hard to find another such organ orgy - and on top of that one that sticks in the ear without any trouble! (JL) -

A new, European reissue of the third album, released in 1973 by Vertigo, by an excellent Norwegian band, once in the absolute top ranks of progressive rock from Scandinavia. It was a logical development of the second album in their discography, the brilliant LP "Loaded", although it was a somewhat gentler work, with plenty of Hammonds, a solid rhythm section and original melodies. The last ten minutes are progressive mastery of the world! The original Norwegian vinyl in perfect condition costs 800 euros, so it is probably worth investing 3% of that amount in an almost identical-looking, attractive edition in a gatefold sleeve and with great sound. Released by Philips in 1972, and now reissued in France, the second LP in the discography, "Loaded" (in perfect condition and with the limited poster, worth over 2000 euros on the original Philips vinyl), is without doubt the best hard-progressive album ever made in Norway and at the same time in the top three of Scandinavian rock! A very dynamic, rock sound based on the interplay of guitars, organ and a very juicy rhythm section. Looseness and precision at the same time - these qualities characterised many bands from the North. In addition, three tracks from the first two singles have been placed on the vinyl, including the fantastic "Stop Your Wishful Thinking", built on a very catchy riff - probably the band's strongest track! Excellent sound quality and excellent, clean pressing! A MUST! (JL) -

A very rare and long-forgotten release from 1979 that only gained recognition years later and has become an important collector's item. Avalanche's music is instrumental, fairly chamber-like progressive rock with strong jazz influences. The compositions are extended and develop slowly, often through repetition and subtle shifts of accent. There is a kinship with Soft Machine of the jazz rock period, but without their irony and British looseness, and at certain moments a cool, detached aura emerges, familiar from the more experimental incarnations of King Crimson. 2014 reissue.
