Pioneers such as Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Cyril Davies are included, as well as representatives of such genres as hard rock, psychedelia and folk rock, which had their roots in the blues: Animals, Jethro Tull, Pentangle, Incredible String Band, Humble Pie, Chicken Shack, Savoy Brown, Jellybread, Taste and Ten Years After. Besides them there are, among others, Jo-Ann Kelly and her brother Dave, Ian A. Anderson, Roger Hubbard and Mike Cooper. And of course the classics of blues rock, such as Fleetwood Mac, Long John Baldry, John Mayall and Climax Chicago Blues Band. The whole thing in a rigid box, with a 32-page booklet inside. A three-disc set presenting the birth and early development of American hard rock. From the publisher: "In the late 60s, with the arrival of psychedelia and the blues-based power trio format, bands in America became heavier, rawer and louder, against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, drugs and ever more powerful amplifiers. Commercially successful bands such as Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, Blue Cheer and Iron Butterfly initiated a new wave of bands whose sound later evolved into heavy metal. Across three CDs and four hours of music, 'We're An American Band' shows the evolution of hard rock at the turn of the 60s and 70s, culminating in the breakthrough single by Grand Funk (which gives this compilation its title), which in late 1973 reached the top of the charts. In addition to the bands mentioned above, artists such as Alice Cooper, The Stooges, ZZ Top, MC5, Love, Todd Rundgren, Kim Fowley and even Muddy Waters appear here, as well as such pioneers as the satanic rockers Coven and the proto-metallers Sir Lord Baltimore. A genuinely sensational album from the Maida Vale label, limited to 500 copies, combining two performances of nearly 30 minutes each (in excellent sound quality) by British progressive bands, recorded by the BBC in 1973 and originally released on ultra-rare promotional vinyl by the BBC Transcription Service. Wild Turkey, led by the former Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick, presented probably their best material (three unknown tracks + one originally from the second LP), which unfortunately did not make it onto the unreleased third record. Please listen to these recordings on YouTube! Three of the tracks once appeared as bonuses on the CD "Turkey", but here there is one more track. Wolf, on the other hand, led by the former Curved Air leader - the violinist Darryl Way - play veeery energetic, prog-rock music in the style of early, highly wound-up and slightly more jazzy Kansas. John Etheridge (later in Soft Machine) played guitar, and Ian Mosley (later in Trace, and from 1983 in Marillion) played drums. This is a piece of wonderful top-shelf progressive playing, and please do not be put off by the fact that it is supposedly a compilation, but simply give yourself great pleasure! A must! P.S. I also recommend the unique record by the groups Satisfaction and Tapestry, made up of two performances (from 1971) - also released by Maida Vale! -

FIRST TIME ON CD! Unbelievable, but this debut album, released in 1973 by London Records, by a Japanese, completely forgotten and unknown (there is only one track of theirs on YouTube...) heavy-progressive band, has never before appeared on CD! Not even in Japan! Singing in their native language, the band harked back to the style of slow, heavy rock in the vein of Too Much and Blues Creation. The second side of the album came from a (superb-sounding) concert. Highly recommended! (JL) -

ANALOGUE SOUND! A mega rare, first British Deram edition (from 1973) of the great debut album by a British mini-supergroup founded by the violinist and leader of Curved Air. The band also featured the guitarist John Etheridge (ex-Icarus, later in Soft Machine), the young drummer Ian Mosley (later in Trace and Marillion) and, as a guest producing the whole thing, Ian McDonald (King Crimson). The first part was recorded with vocals, while the second (even better) was entirely instrumental. An absolute classic of British progressive rock! Plus the original white-and-blue company inner sleeve. Great condition! The gatefold, matt sleeve is almost perfect, with only a slight, almost invisible darkening on the front (from a sticker): strong EXCELLENT / Record almost like new: MINT(-) -

Austrian, remastered, nearly 80-minute edition (in the superb, original cover!) of the excellent debut, released by Jugoton in 1973, by a Yugoslav formation once compared to Black Sabbath, though in truth (and despite the glam image...) closer to the style of Wishbone Ash and Led Zeppelin. Excellent, guitar-driven, rock playing as a trio - with catchy melodies (sometimes brushing against the local folk - super!), a rich, spacious sound and a very good, unpretentious vocal. A little earlier the British branch of CBS had been interested in the band (the group even appeared at the famous London club Marquee!), but in the end the session never took place, though the band bought itself good equipment - which is, by the way, perfectly audible on the record! In addition 8 rare tracks from the first 4 (excellent) singles are included, as well as a live track from the double compilation album 'Boom Pop Fest '73'. A MUST! -
