YU GRUPA - YU Grupa (1st Album) - Croatia Records

An excellent debut, originally released by Jugoton in 1973, by a Yugoslav band once compared to Black Sabbath, although in truth (and despite the glam image...) closer to the style of Wishbone Ash and Led Zeppelin. Excellent, guitar-driven rock playing in a trio - with catchy melodies (sometimes brushing against local folk - great!), a rich, spacious sound and a very good, unpretentious vocal. A little earlier the British branch of CBS was interested in the band (the group even played at the famous London Marquee club!), but the session in the end never happened, and instead the band bought itself good equipment - which, incidentally, can be heard excellently on the record! An anniversary, remastered edition, new and sealed. A MUST!
