The second album by this popular Argentinian trio is fairly widely considered the best achievement of its whole career, although in my opinion 'the third one' is even better. In any case, compared with the debut the band strengthened the guitar riffs a little more and presented a collection of almost archetypal heavy rock numbers in the vein of Hendrix, Black Sabbath and Budgie - still referencing the blues, but without overdoing it... An absolute must! -

Remastered and expanded with brilliant studio and live recordings from the BBC archives - the third and last record by the cult, progressive formation with the excellent, though underrated, guitarist Ollie Halsall. Admittedly on the third album there was less guitar than on the earlier two titles (although the guitar solo in Loud Green Song simply kills!), but this problem was more than made up for by the 7 unreleased tracks (lasting 38 minutes) recorded for the BBC between November 1970 and March 1971. This is the best Patto material in existence! Both the 5 live tracks and both studio versions are downright breathtaking! Importantly, as many as 3 compositions (Beat The Drum, So Cold and Love Me) never appeared on any studio record! So even if the third album is slightly weaker, the additional material is simply essential! A MUST! -

Limited to 500 copies, rare, double, excellent CD containing the full, 145-minute performance from the Rainbow theatre in London, recorded on the tour promoting the album "Meddle". Interestingly - during the four London concerts between 17-20 January 1972 the band presented brand new "Dark Side Of The Moon" material! Not yet quite ready, with quite different "On The Run" and "Great Gig In The Sky", but it was already the 'Dark Side' 15 months before the record's premiere! Attention! The whole first 50 minutes covering "Dark Side" is in perfect, radio quality - never published by the band! The next two parts of the concert, sounding very good (but not perfect), come either from the mixing desk or from the audience. In addition, as a bonus, three rarities are included: very rarely performed and almost immediately dropped, live (audience, but very good sounding) versions of tracks from the record "Obscured By Clouds"! The price is very attractive, the artwork almost frenzied (all the photos come from the performance at the Rainbow Theatre). Attention! The YouTube link (the full concert without the bonus tracks) sounds slightly worse than the CD. An absolute MUST! (JL) -

Plainsong is a folk-rock band formed by Ian Matthews (formerly of Fairport Convention) and Andy Roberts (Liverpool Scene / Everyone). "Following Amelia" is a six-disc set containing a reissue of their debut album "In Search Of Amelia Earhart" released for its 50th anniversary, remastered from the original master tapes, and half of the previously unreleased material, including several rare BBC recordings from the 70s and the whole concert from Folk Fairport in 1972 in Amsterdam. In addition, we have the album "Now We Are 3" recorded in December 1972, released only years later, as the band broke up soon after. It reformed in 1992 and the fifth CD contains the first concert from that period, from Mayrhofen in Austria from 1993. The sixth disc has, among other things, six tracks from "In Search Of Amelia Earhart" performed acoustically in 2020. The whole thing comes in a rigid box, with a richly illustrated, 44-page booklet inside. (MU) -

This is not the German, krautrock Popol Vuh, but a Norwegian progressive formation playing music close to the style of early Genesis, King Crimson, Focus, Jethro Tull and the Mahavishnu Orchestra! In 1975 the band changed its name to Popol Ace. The debut, released in 1972, contains, among others, one of the BEST PROGRESSIVE TRACKS IN THE HISTORY OF THE GENRE, that is, the mellotron-laden and simply tear-jerking (sorry) "For Eternity"! For this brilliant and incredibly atmospheric track alone you simply MUST have this CD, which is very good and superbly recorded anyway! Highly recommended!
