FIRST TIME IN STEREO! A new, European reissue of a classic from the circle of British psychedelic rock from the end of 1967, ALWAYS RELEASED IN MONO AND NOW MIXED IN TRUE STEREO. It must be admitted that this album, released in December 1967, positively sparkled (like few others) with varied sounds and innovative sonic experiments. The record contains 12 ostensibly varied, but all in all similar to one another, recordings dominated by sharp, steady-rhythm tracks varied with all kinds of distortion and reverb. I have in mind, for instance, the very catchy 'I Think I’m Going Weird', kept in an almost apocalyptic (and lightly classical-leaning) mood; the splendid, electrifying and, for those times, positively heavy metal (although recorded with mellotron) 'Supernatural Fairy Tales' and the unreal and at the same time exemplarily psychedelic 'Room With The View'. The rest of the record did not stray far from them, as it was dominated either by typical psychedelia or by sharp, freakbeat playing. The four musicians of Art (Mike Harrison, Luther Grosvenor, Mike Kellie and Greg Ridley) soon afterwards began working with organist Gary Wright, changing the name to Spooky Tooth. But that's another story... TO DISTINGUISH THIS EDITION FROM THE USUAL MONO VERSIONS, THE PUBLISHER DECIDED TO SWAP THE COLOURS ON THE FRONT SLEEVE! A MUST! Condition: MINT (NEW, unsealed). (JL) -

Beautifully presented, three-disc British box set, containing all the band's recordings, that is, the LP "Art Gallery" (1966), all the singles, the EP "Jazz In Jeans", unreleased recordings, thirteen excellent tracks of superb quality from the BBC archive (you have to have this box set if only for that hour of music) and a concert from Denmark, from 1967 (with plenty of unreleased tracks, including "Satisfaction", "Day Tripper", "Black Mountain") - unfortunately of weakish quality, that is, the band sounds quite good, unfortunately the vocal is poorly audible (which was the rule at the time).
