A new, remastered, limited, European edition of the sensational second album, recorded in the summer of 1970 and released only in 1971, by a Danish progressive band referencing here the style of the then work of Procol Harum, Van Der Graaf Generator, Beggar's Opera and even Uriah Heep in their most progressive, early guise. Unlike the debut, containing two long, 20-minute suites, this record consisted of somewhat shorter, 5-8 minute, though also fascinating compositions (making somewhat greater use of the guitar sound than before) - with the brilliant, dark 'Invasion' in the leading role. A new, remastered, limited European edition of the sensational debut, recorded in the summer of 1969 and released by Philips in February 1970, by a progressive Danish band referencing the style of the then most rock (with dominant electric guitar and Hammond organ) achievements of Procol Harum, Rare Bird, The Nice and late The Beatles. This record, full of dynamics, catchy melody and truly exquisite, contains only two extended suites (composed for a ballet) and it must be admitted that outside Britain nobody at the turn of 1969-1970 played this kind of music so professionally! It is one of my most favourite progressive records 'ever'! The album 'Green Man', released in 1971, was also excellent, but I value the debut a little more... Additionally 2 tracks from a single from 1970 are added to the disc - including 'Over The Fields', never released on CD, probably the heaviest in the band's career! The sound is slightly better than on earlier editions and simply beats hands down the dull and lifeless versions from YouTube! In addition the CD contains several rare photos of the band. A remastered edition of the excellent second album in the discography, released in 1969, by a Danish blues-rock band led by Peter Thorup - later a collaborator of Alexis Korner in the group C.C.S. Indeed, the famous bluesman appears twice on the record... This is early, bluesy progressive playing with a fair amount of flute parts (including two tracks of ten minutes each), and resembling the best achievements of Steamhammer, Jethro Tull and Cuby & The Blizzards! Additionally a track of over ten minutes from 1968 is included. A must! -

Released by Polydor Records in December 1971, a classic and in my opinion excellent album by a Danish progressive band with a full sound based on Hammond organ and juicy guitar sounds, complemented by flute parts and a strong rhythm section. The band as a rule went for compact forms and catchy melodies, though it often switched surprisingly abruptly (changing tempo in passing) between acoustic passages and heavier, organ-and-guitar improvisations. An example is the great overdriven guitar solo coming in suddenly in the first track... The exceptions to the rule were 2 short passages based on a soporific piano backing and a mournful vocal part. Although inspirations from British bands such as Jethro Tull (please listen to the splendid second track), Atomic Rooster, Traffic or Caravan were clearly audible, Blast Furnace's music nevertheless retained its own character. Unfortunately, the album was not a commercial success (the original vinyl in perfect condition sells for 1000 euros), but over time gained the status of one of the most interesting and most sought-after Danish progressive albums of the early seventies. After the band's break-up, two of its musicians joined the band Culpeper's Orchard. Additionally, the A-side of a rare single from 1971 is included as a bonus. This is the best-sounding CD version of this title! A MUST! Condition: new, sealed. (JL) -

This cult, though still not widely known, band brilliantly combined sophisticated, dynamic, guitar playing in the vein of Led Zeppelin with typical prog-rock a la Procol Harum and elements of folk. Plenty of electric guitars, Hammond organ, lots of changes of tempo and mood - simply a perfect album! An absolute must! -

After such a fantastic record as the Danes' 1971 debut, it would have been hard to record anything better, but the 'second', released in 1972, almost maintained that level! Recorded with an unchanged line-up, the album was kept in a very similar, folk-hard-progressive mood. The same charming vocal, electric guitars mixed with acoustic ones, occasional flute, at times almost hard rock thrashing. In addition, seven very good bonus tracks from the period - mainly from rare singles. This version beats the previous CD editions hands down (in every respect)! Highly recommended! -

Recorded in 1971, but released at the beginning of 1972 by British CBS, the only album by an excellent band from Denmark playing heavy, progressive rock in the European style. This is an absolute masterpiece of the genre started by Cream and continued by Led Zeppelin, Free, Taste and the Swedish November. The English-sung record was dominated by a somewhat sleepy, psychedelic, yet at the same time heavy and clear sound with plenty of concise improvisations. There is no lack of a good pinch of blues and even sitar psychedelia - simply a very professional, thrilling and almost perfect record! Additionally 3 very good recordings from the recording session for the album are included, as well as 2 tracks from the ultra-rare single on the Spectator label (with the sleeve reproduced in the booklet) from 1970. NOTE! This CD contains the original, correct, vinyl mix from 1972 and not the remixed, partly cut material (additionally supplemented with a distinct reverb) once released by Karma Music. The only fragment from the remix is the final 2 minutes of the 10-minute-long track 'Lost In The Jungle', which are included. A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A limited live album (on black vinyl), released in a run of 500 copies, containing the band's 52-minute early concert, recorded professionally (a so-called soundboard recording) by the group in March 1982 - a full eight months before the release of the debut EP. This was already classic Mercyful Fate (something like a combination of early Black Sabbath with Judas Priest) in the line-up of the first two albums, though some of the recordings had early, unknown arrangements, and King Diamond did not always 'deliver' vocally... A fascinating moment in the history of metal! The laminated, very attractive cover contains several rare, nice photographs of the band, then completely unknown outside Denmark! This is probably the only concert of classic Mercyful Fate recorded in great quality! An absolute must! Condition: NEW, unsealed. (JL)
