MERCYFUL FATE - MERCYFUL FATE - Live In Copenhagen, March 1982 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A limited live CD, released in a small run, containing a 53-minute early concert by the band, recorded professionally (a so-called soundboard recording) in Copenhagen at the Odd Fellow Palæet hall on 26 March 1982 - a full eight months before the release of the debut EP. This was already classic Mercyful Fate (a combination of early Black Sabbath with Judas Priest), in the line-up from the first two albums, though some of the recordings had early, unknown arrangements. A fascinating moment in the history of metal! The attractive cover contains several rare, nice photos of a band that was then completely unknown outside Denmark! This is probably the only concert by classic Mercyful Fate recorded in great quality! An absolute must for fans of classic metal! (JL) -

PAN (see also: Delta Blues Band / Blast Furnace) - PAN - Pan +3 - SWE Flawed Gems Expanded Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
How good it is that there is such a label as Flawed Gems - releasing forgotten, but excellent titles and combining tasteful artwork with excellent, juicy and almost analogue sound. Professionally remastered, released in the original cover and without a doubt the best-sounding (e.g. compared with the dull CD from the dreadful Danish label Karma...) edition of the only, but superb, album by a Danish progressive formation. Released in May 1970 and excellently produced, the LP contained a mixture of heavy rock, folk, jazz and classical music, that is, it was an utterly progressive album. This album, full of changing moods, was characterised by the spacious interplay of Hammond organ, intense electric guitar parts and nice vocals (with two tracks in French). In addition, 2 tracks from a single and an alternative version are included. Compared with the earlier Karma version, however, there are (fortunately) none of the four poor, country-style live tracks, already recorded with a changed line-up. A top-drawer progressive classic! A MUST! (JL) -

RAINBOW BAND (see also: Midnight Sun) - RAINBOW BAND - Rainbow Band - AUS Progressive Line Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A Danish band playing great, progressive, jazzy music in the vein of If, Blodwyn Pig and Heaven. On the one hand elements of jazz (saxophones), on the other sharp guitar solos. Attention! The material under the name Rainbow Band was recorded as early as 1970, while a year later - after a change of name (and vocalist) - the band, now under the name Midnight Sun, played the whole thing again! Highly recommended. (JL) -

SAVAGE ROSE - SAVAGE ROSE - Savage Rose / In The Plain (1 & 2) - EU Pelin Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The first (and best) two albums (both from 1968) by a great Danish band playing... in its own way. A captivating combination of pop, psychedelia, folk and hard-rock - something like Procol Harum, Traffic and Earth And Fire. In the lead role is a somewhat hoarse female vocalist, whom someone described as "Grace Slick at 78 rpm", although I would compare her to a more manic, teenage Maggie Bell of Stone The Crows. The young woman wails but also seduces... Plenty of early-progressive playing which, on careful listening, simply delights! Highly recommended! (JL) -
T.P. SMOKE - T.P. SMOKE - T.P. Smoke - GER Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 100,00 PLN / 25,00 EUR
Released in 1970, the sole yet really successful album by a Danish band containing eight decidedly progressive tracks based above all on dense (at times slightly bluesy) Hammond organ playing and great playing from the rhythm section. In addition the vocalist had a nice, strong vocal resembling Arthur Brown a little. Highly recommended. German reissue, sealed. -
THORS HAMMER - THORS HAMMER - Thors Hammer - EU Prog Gems Expanded Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Released by Metronome in 1971, an excellent, classic album by a Danish progressive band with a full sound based on Hammond organ and juicy guitar sounds. Fairly long, 6-8 minute tracks with intelligent arrangements, reminiscent of the most interesting recordings of the brilliant British band If, as well as Hannibal (from the UK) and the popular Danish group Midnight Sun. The record was dominated by attractive saxophone and flute parts, at times quite heavy, intense guitar parts, and also the then obligatory Hammond organ sounds. Attention was drawn to the very catchy compositions, excellent, breathy production and spacious sound. An almost perfect record! The original Danish vinyl in perfect condition sells for 1200 euros! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: NEW, SEALED. -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Living On The Hill - A Danish Underground Trip 1967-1974 (3CD BOX) - UK Esoteric Remastered Editionprice: 140,00 PLN / 35,00 EUR
A three-disc box set containing almost four hours of music by Danish bands, from 1967-1974. From the publisher: "From the psychedelic jamming of ALRUNE ROD and YOUNG FLOWERS, to the harder music of THE OLD MAN & THE SEA, HURDY GURDY and DELTA BLUES BAND, to progressive and jazz-oriented bands such as BURNIN’ RED IVANHOE, BLAST FURNACE, CULPEPER’S ORCHARD, MIDNIGHT SUN, PAN, SECRET OYSTER and THOR’S HAMMER, the variety and range of bands emerging from a small country was impressive in its excellence. Some bands, such as THE SAVAGE ROSE, BURNIN' RED IVANHOE, ACHE, MIDNIGHT SUN, SECRET OYSTER, CULPEPER’S ORCHARD and DAY OF PHOENIX achieved some success outside their homeland, while others remained in the Scandinavian backyard. The common thread of all these artists was an emphasis on experimentation and a willingness to cross perceived musical boundaries."
