A remastered and decidedly improved in every respect edition from the Eclipse label of the debut album, released in 1969 by Vanguard, by the classics of American heavy rock - at last with the full cover. A superb and, in sum, underrated debut by a very good band from Detroit, led by the excellent guitarist Dick Wagner (later in Ursa Major and the bands of Lou Reed, Alice Cooper and Peter Gabriel). The music on this, without a doubt the band's best album, is a combination of catchy compositions from the circle of melodic psychedelia and classic, heavy rock; heavily thickened rhythms, and of course the all-pervading, juicy and piercing guitar parts of the Cream, Amboy Dukes and early Grand Funk kind. There is not a single weak track on this excellent record! Additionally two live recordings from 1969, joined together, are included. A MUST! (JL) -

Originally released in 1980, the only, but superb, album by an American hard rock band playing with two guitars in the style of Thin Lizzy, UFO, Wishbone Ash and above all Truth And Janey! Both tracks from the single "Cross Country Man / State Of The Artist" (1982) have been added to the privately released LP. It is ambitious and truly refined, heavy playing in the British style and it is hard to believe that this perfectly sounding album was recorded for little money (in an old theatre) and released by the band itself in an edition of a thousand copies (today in perfect condition the record is worth 0...). 2024 reissue, in the original sleeve. Highly recommended! Nobody will be disappointed! Condition: NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

It is hard to believe that a few years later two musicians from this group founded the rather mediocre Cheap Trick. This is an album from the same shelf as the Captain Beyond debut, the first Bloodrock records, or the second album by Damnation Of Adam Blessing. A three-disc set containing the albums by the band of the guitarist Ronnie Montrose, formed after the break-up of Montrose, released by Elektra ("Gamma 1" from 1979, "Gamma 2" from 1980 and "Gamma 3" from 1982). All of them belong to the classics of hard rock, although in Poland they are practically unknown. Each has single bonus tracks added, and the whole thing comes in a rigid box, with a 12-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! -

Every track is wonderful, though they are only melodic, almost pop songs served in a dreamy, psychedelic sauce. But the effect is stunning! It is hardly surprising that the album has cult status and a very wide circle of sworn fans. The album was recorded in 1968, but Capitol did not release it until the beginning of 1969 - when the band no longer existed! The record sounds wonderful - dynamic and without any hiss - it beats the previous reissues, including the American Sundazed, hands down! The record is also available on vinyl (without bonus tracks). Latest album by an American metal formation drawing by the handful on the traditions of the seventies and eighties. On their fifth album the band turned decidedly towards traditional doom metal in the vein of Trouble, Solitude Aeturnus, Pentagram or Electric Wizard. The influences of classic, epic heavy metal in the manner of Judas Priest or Cirith Ungol, very clear on the previous two albums, have been forgotten. The record is dominated by very slow, heavy and rather raw playing bringing to mind above all the work of early Black Sabbath - even the guitar solos sound as if torn straight from that era! It has supposedly all been done before, but the record is a real pleasure to listen to! Very tastefully presented British CD from the label Rise Above. Traditional jewel case slipped into a cardboard slipcase. Highly recommended! (K) -

What an excellent album! The American trio Glass Harp played in 1970-1972 very British, richly arranged (flute, occasional strings, frequent changes of mood), guitar-driven, heavyish rock - somewhat resembling a very richly arranged Wishbone Ash. The excellent guitarist Phil Keaggy has always been regarded as one of the best guitarists in the States! Catchy melodies, rich arrangements and at least 4 tracks lasting 6-8 minutes each. In addition a nearly 30-minute, heavily improvised version of the classic "Can You See Me" recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall! A MUST! -

Beautiful-sounding reissue of the second album (released in 1971) by a great, American guitar formation once recording for MCA/Decca. The 'second' was practically as good as the excellent debut, though slightly gentler! As before, the band presented catchy, slightly Beatles-esque melodies, fairly rich arrangements (though the tracks were somewhat shorter than on the debut) and unforced instrumental virtuosity. In addition four superb tracks (over 25 minutes) recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall and one demo track are added! To tell the truth these superb-sounding live pieces are already a reason to have this record! In 1970-1972 the trio Glass Harp played 'almost British', richly arranged, guitar-driven, heavyish rock - strongly resembling Wishbone Ash of the fourth record period. The excellent guitarist Phil Keaggy has always been regarded as one of the best guitarists in the States! Highly recommended! -
