HARD MEAT - HARD MEAT - Space Between - Recordings 1969-1970 (3CD) - UK Esoteric Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 140,00 PLN / 35,00 EUR
A three-disc set containing all the recordings made by the British band, playing progressive rock with elements of folk and blues, which may bring to mind Culpeper's Orchard, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y, as well as late Beatles or The Strawbs. The first two CDs contain the albums from 1970, "Hard Meat" and "Through A Window", both released by Warner Bros. The third disc is taken up by a record made in 1969 for Island Records, but then rejected and never released. Only two tracks released on a single saw the light of day, including a cover of The Beatles' "Rain". The remaining seven appear on "Space Between" for the first time! Unfortunately, in the absence of interest, the band split in 1971. The set comes in a rigid box, with a 20-page booklet inside. A must! (MU) -

HARD STUFF (see also: Atomic Rooster / Quatermass) - HARD STUFF - Bulletproof - EU Ethelion Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Released in a gatefold sleeve, an Ethelion edition of the very nice debut record by a British supergroup (initially called Bullet) formed by former members of Atomic Rooster (guitar and drums) and Quatermass (bass). Released in 1972 by Purple Records, this album contained heavy, juicy, hard-rock playing in the vein of (free of progressive traces) Purple, Led Zeppelin and Leaf Hound. It was certainly one of the five heaviest albums on the music market at the time! Two bonus tracks from the same session are additionally included with the record: "Entrance To Hell" and "The Soul I That Had". A MUST! (JL) -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - BBC Live In Concert (November 1970 - March 1971) - UK Maida Vale / Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
The drummer Keef Hartley replaced Ringo Starr in Rory Storm & The Hurricanes (when the latter left for The Beatles), then played in The Artwoods, then in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and finally in 1968 founded his own band, to which he invited excellent musicians and the brass section of the aforementioned Mayall. This excellent LP, lasting 53 minutes and released in 500 copies, contains two live performances by the band - from November 1970 and March 1971 - made for a small audience gathered in a BBC radio studio. It is the best Keef Hartley Band one can imagine - especially the 25-minute "Medley" filling the whole first side - recorded with only five people, without a large brass section. Progressive, jazzy, powerful-sounding playing - much better than the music on the catalogue "Little Big Band"! The sound quality is excellent (Side 1) or almost ideal (Side 2), and the pressing perfect! All of the material appeared earlier on the sold-out, double LP "Live At The BBC 1969-1971". For CD lovers I recommend the similarly compiled CD "British Radio Sessions", expanded by nearly 30 minutes! A MUST! NEW, SEALED. -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - British Radio Sessions 1969-1971 - FRA On The Air Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
An excellent, unofficial 80-minute item, released in 500 copies, from 1969-1971, coming from the BBC archives, more precisely from vinyls from the BBC Transcription Disc series (very rare and expensive), issued in its day in a hundred copies. The first three tracks were made live, last 40 minutes and are a class of their own! This is the best Keef Hartley Band you can imagine - especially the opening "Medley" - recorded by just five people, without a large brass section! Progressive, jazzy, powerful-sounding playing - much better than the music on the catalogue "Little Big Band"! Then several studio, radio recordings from 1969 (from the period of the first two albums), then two tracks from the period of the LP "Overdog", and as a bonus two recordings by Miller Anderson with the band, made just after his departure from KHB. The sound quality is excellent, because almost everything comes from mastered vinyls, and not, as is sometimes the case with radio recordings, from an average copy of a radio broadcast... The photo inside the sleeve comes from the Woodstock festival, and the band did not appear in the film (or on the record) because its manager demanded money for filming! C'est la vie... With the exception of two tracks (2 and 3) the whole is unreleased on CD! A MUST! -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - Little Big Band - EU Press - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A great live album, closing the best period of the band's work. It was also the last record with Gary Thain on bass and Miller Anderson on guitar and vocals. The second part of the album is filled with a 25-minute quasi-suite, made up of recordings from the debut album. Quite a lot of blowing of horns. 2015 reissue, in a gatefold sleeve, sealed. -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - Halfbreed - EU Walhalla Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
'Halfbreed' is a fantastic, jazz-blues-progressive debut by a band led by the former drummer of The Artwoods and the Bluesbreakers. This is how the best album of John Mayall's career should have sounded, had he not disbanded the group after the LP "Blues From Laurel Canyon" and... receded somewhat into the shadows! It is hard to imagine better progressive-blues playing! This is a record for fans of such titles as "Blues From Laurel Canyon", "Tons Of Sobs" and "Barbed Wire Sandwich". An absolute must! -

The sixth album, and the first recorded after the departure of Miller Anderson and Gary Thain. Good, though clearly weaker playing than on the records from 1969-1971... 1994 edition. -

An Irish edition of the excellent, third album by the blues-jazz-progressive band with Miller Anderson on guitar and Gary Thain on bass. The record features the brass section of the band Galliard - which can be heard especially on tracks 4 and 5... Highly recommended! -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - THE KEEF HARTLEY BAND – Live at Essen Pop and Blues Festival 1969 / 1970 (2CD)price: 130,00 PLN / 32,50 EUR
A German, two-disc CD containing previously unreleased, official material from the period of the 2nd and 3rd records, recorded at two annual rock festivals in Essen: in 1969 and 1970. Splendid, jazz-blues-progressive playing with extended versions of well-known pieces and with long improvisations. The artwork is rather off-putting, but the music is top-shelf! A MUST! (JL) -
CD
HARVEY, ALEX - ALEX HARVEY - Joker Is Wild - EU Walhalla Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A little-known (released in 1972 - only in Germany) solo record by the cult vocalist (with a voice almost deceptively resembling another Scot - Bon Scott of AC/DC), made just before the founding of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The album was dominated by blues-rock material and more progressive, at moments slightly far-out, psych-rock sounds. The centrepiece of the album was a 12-minute, intense cover, partly at a fast tempo, of two tracks joined together: "Hare Krishna" and "Willie The Pimp". Recommended. (JL) -
CD
HARVEY, ALEX - ALEX HARVEY - Blues - EU Walhalla Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Acoustic blues in the vein of the early recordings of Alexis Korner. A cult, second album recorded with the help of his brother - Les Harvey (later in Stone The Crows) and released only in Germany at the end of 1964. On CD for the first time! -
CD
HATE - HATE - Hate Kills - SWE Flawed Gems Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
On CD for the first time! Excellent, rather dark and decidedly progressive British playing with dominant Hammond organ parts and nice guitars - so typical of 1970! The whole thing was in the style of the brilliant album by Indian Summer, as well as Procol Harum, a somewhat lighter early Atomic Rooster and early Spooky Tooth (vocals). It is really hard to understand why such a great title had to wait almost 30 years for its CD debut! Satisfaction guaranteed and zero risk! An absolute must! -
