ASFALTO - ASFALTO - Asfalto - EU Walhalla Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR

CD
ATILA - ATILA - Intencion / Reviure - US Mandala Digipack Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Excellent, progressive albums (the second and third in the discography) from Spain from 1976-1977 - especially the first of them is superb. The second resembles the best output of ELP and Beggars Opera. The third is slightly gentler, with more synthesisers. Highly recommended! (JL) -

BLOQUE - BLOQUE - Hombre, Tierra y Alma - SWE Flawed Gems Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
I love this album! Released 'only' in 1979, but sounding much earlier (1973-74), the Spaniards' second album contained a very impressive and soulful portion of progressive rock based on a strong vocal, sobbing or heavily riff-driven guitar parts and of course a battery of keyboards - almost identical in form to the offerings of some Italian formations such as Biglietto per l'Inferno, P.F.M. or Museo Rosenbach - with a touch of the style of Pink Floyd and early Camel. I stress that Spanish progressive bands were heavily 'delayed' (including Lisker, Nu, Leno) and the date 1979 can safely be treated as nominal. I write this because at that time rather dreadful things were being made in the progressive world, but in General Franco's country time flowed differently, more slowly. As with all records from this label - excellent sound quality, mastered from the original vinyl! A must! -
CD
BLOQUE - BLOQUE - El Hijo del Alba - SPA Serdisco Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
Released in 1980, the third, excellent album by a Spanish progressive formation, known, among others, for the superb second CD "Hombre, tierra y alma" from 1979. The third is in an almost identical mood - you can hear a clear fascination with Italian progressive rock (Biglietto per l'Inferno or Quella Vecchia Locanda), as well as melodies resembling the best recordings of Kansas. Highly recommended! (JL) -

LENO (see also: Nu) - LENO - Leno - SPA Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
Please ignore the late date! In Spain many important and beautiful records appeared in 1975-79. The first (and best) album by this heavy-rock (slightly bluesy) group contains very dynamic music with a heavy, guitar sound. Long tracks (6-7 minutes each) with a dense texture predominate. The good old sound, as in 1972-74! And the instrumental miniature "Se Acabo" that closes the record is the most beautiful piece for classical guitar I have heard in my life! A must! -

CD
LOS BRINCOS - LOS BRINCOS - The Jolly Years 1965-1969 - ITA Card Sleeve Editionprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
This is a compilation – a collection of recordings from the band's key period, when its style was crystallising under the influence of British beat rock, and Los Brincos themselves were often called "the Spanish Beatles". Here we find everything from energetic, sometimes raw beat and catchy, danceable tracks to romantic, melodic ballads, all of it combining the rock'n'roll of the 60s with the local, Andalusian tradition. -

MAQUINA (see also: Pan Y Regaliz) - MAQUINA - Why? - SPA Guerssen Pressprice: 135,00 PLN / 33,75 EUR
An excellent, debut album by a cult (deservedly!), Spanish band playing juicy, heavily improvised heavy-prog-rock (overdriven guitars with wah-wah, all-pervading organ) with clear psychedelic influences. English vocals! In my opinion it is in the top five of Spanish rock! The main point of the album was the 25-minute title track, apparently recorded live in the studio. The cover apparently pleased Salvador Dali himself! A 2021 Spanish reissue, in a gatefold sleeve. -

MAQUINA (see also: Pan Y Regaliz) - MAQUINA - Why? +9 - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered Expanded - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
What a fantastic record! Great-sounding edition, expanded by over 45 minutes, of reportedly the first rock LP released in Spain! Earlier local groups had recorded only singles... Made in summer 1970, the excellent debut album contained a concentrated dose of juicy, improvised, almost trance-like, English-sung heavy-prog rock, with the sound of heavily overdriven guitars (one with wah-wah, the other with fuzz - that is a fact!) and ubiquitous organs - with clear influences of psychedelia. In my opinion it is in the top three of Spanish rock - alongside the brilliant LP by the group Pan Y Regaliz (1971) and the record by Eduardo Bort (1975)! The main point of the album was the 25-minute, two-part, title track, reportedly recorded live in the studio - now without the cut in the middle! The cover, meanwhile, reportedly pleased Salvador Dali himself! In fact on one of the photos on the CD the legendary painter poses together with the band! I stress: in terms of sound quality this edition beats the Spanish edition hands down, which had clear vinyl crackle! The six bonus tracks (another excellent 40 minutes) came from the same recording session and were in no way inferior to the LP. In addition three tracks from early, psychedelic singles have been added. An absolute must! -

NU (see also: Leno) - NU - A Golpe De Latigo - SPANISH Chapa Discos 1979 1st Press - NEAR MINT VINTAGE VINYLprice: 400,00 PLN / 100,00 EUR
ANALOGUE SOUND! An ultra-rare first Spanish edition, from 1979, of the excellent second album by a Spanish hard-progressive band, inspired by the sound of Jethro Tull ("Benefit" + the 'heavyish' "Heavy Horses"), early Kansas (organ/occasional violin) and British heavy rock. Very catchy, ear-grabbing progressive playing with fairly expressive vocals, heavy guitar riffs and plenty of flute parts. Sleeve: EXCELLENT+ / Record: MINT- -

NU (see also: Leno) - NU - A Golpe De Latigo - SPA Edition - LISTENprice: 75,00 PLN / 18,75 EUR

Very catchy, progressive playing with a fairly expressive vocal, heavy guitar riffs and plenty of flute parts. Highly recommended! (JL) -
CD
NU (see also: Leno) - NU - Cuentos de Ayer y de Hoy - SPA Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 65,00 PLN / 16,25 EUR
Released in 1978 (the Spaniards were a little behind), but an excellent debut album by a Spanish group combining heavy rock with typical progressive rock, that is, sharp guitars, electric violin, flute, occasional keyboards, heavily broken, dense drums. Six tracks in the vein of the crazy Italian groups of the mid-70s - this can be listened to in one breath! The original vinyl is worth hundreds of euros, so it is certainly worth investing in the CD - without risk! A must! -

LP
ROCKCELONA - ROCKCELONA - La Bruja - SPA Press - LISTENprice: 150,00 PLN / 37,50 EUR
As is well known, Spanish rock of the second half of the 70s was several years behind the West, so this album, released in 1979, sounded like some mega-heavy rock from 1973-1974! Plenty of overdriven guitars, a heavy rhythm section, and catchy, very infectious compositions! I once came across the (somewhat exaggerated) opinion that it is... the best hard rock album of all time! In any case it is a very serious record (worth 400-500 euros as an original) that every fan of heavy playing should be interested in! 2022 Spanish edition. Highly recommended! -
LP
