A mega rare PROMO (with a blue-and-white label instead of the colourful one, known from Rush records, for example), limited to 100-200 copies, first American release (from 1976) of the superb debut album by a pedigree, progressive Australian band, playing in the British style of early Camel, Genesis and Yes. Four long (including two instrumental), elegantly arranged tracks played with dynamism and passion. Perfect condition! Southern Cross is an Australian formation created on the initiative of the Buffalo guitarist John Baxter and vocalist Alan Milano (who sang on the LP "Dead Forever" by the aforementioned formation). Admittedly Baxter himself left the group before the record was made, but Milano stayed, and with other musicians he recorded a really nice hard rock album. Recommended. (K) -

Excellent, one of the most popular groups in Australia in the early 70s. This (first) album contained progressive music based on the deep sound of Hammond organ, though you can also hear some influences of psychedelia and blues. In 1973 Manfred Mann's Earth Band covered "Make Your Stash" and called it... "Joybringer", and a year later included covers of two (single) Spectrum tracks on the LP "The Good Earth" - perhaps by way of compensation! Highly recommended! -

This is one of my most favourite and most often played little-known records! A remastered and very good-sounding reissue of the debut album, recorded in two and a half hours and released in early 1969, by a genuinely cult Australian band. This sensational LP has great compositions, plenty of overdriven guitars and a lot of psychedelia, that is, a cross between Hendrix and Cream with a pinch of late Beatles. There are no weak moments on the record and every fan of old rock should simply have this title in their collection! A must! (JL) -

Released in 1970 by Australian Warner Bros, the second album, slightly more progressive and at the same time slightly less aggressive, is simply fantastic and recalls a little the work of the very dark The Allman Brothers Band, Free, early Neil Young with Crazy Horse and the best moments of the Australian band Master's Apprentices. Slowly building tension, enchanting melodies, long juicy guitar solos and spacious sound. This is how they played only in 1970! The sound is in my opinion slightly better (less hiss, slightly more treble) than on the Australian edition! In addition, nine very nice bonus tracks! A must! -

A three-disc compilation containing recordings from the independent Australian label Clarion, from the 60s and early 70s. It was founded by Martin Clarke, who lived in Perth and worked at a local radio station, and who turned a bedroom into a makeshift recording studio. This modest venture turned into Martin Clarke Recording Studios, which opened in 1962 and became the first professional recording facility in Perth. Between 1965 and 1974 Clarion released approx. 120 singles and 20 albums, including The Valentines with Bon Scott in the line-up. -

A limited, excellent 78-minute CD containing 18 important, rare tracks. Eleven of them appeared on very rare Australian singles (including "Carry Me Home", "Fling Thing" and the live "Dog Eat Dog") and albums ("Stick Around", "Love Song", "School Days", "R.I.P.", "Crabsody In Blue", "Cold Hearted Man"), and they are generally absent from the international discography. The two most important recordings, however, come right at the start of the disc: they are the tracks from the ultra-rare debut single "Can I Sit Next To You Girl / Rockin' In The Parlour" from the summer of 1974, recorded with vocalist Dave Evans! Worth 1200 euros and released by Albert Productions, that record has never, ever appeared on any major album or on the anniversary box set, and it is highly sought after by die-hard fans (hence the crazy price)! The CD also contains five demo recordings (in perfect quality) from the sessions for the LP "Highway To Hell". The quality of all the recordings is excellent! It is hard to imagine any fan of the band not buying this brilliant album! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

"Crossfire", the album by the German band of the same name, is a solid example of European hard rock from the early 80s, firmly rooted in the aesthetic of classic heavy rock but with distinct influences of blues and boogie. The sound is raw and guitar-driven, without unnecessary embellishment: the riffs are simple but catchy, and the rhythm section keeps everything in check with great energy. ONLY ONE COPY, new, sealed.
