Released by Metal Blade on double vinyl, another excellent album by the best formation in the history of progressive metal! A continuation of the style begun on the sensational "The Locust Years", released in 2006, that is, almost 50 minutes of juicy progressive playing full of changing moods, with Hammond, piano, heavy yet very melodic guitar riffs and superbly complementary male and female vocals. Gatefold sleeve and two inserts. An absolute must! -

HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE (see also: Slough Feg) - HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE - August Engine - EU Metal Blade Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 65,00 PLN / 16,25 EUR
Metal Blade reissue of the second album by the formation led by the former (and then current) guitarist and the guitarist/vocalist of Slough Feg! Whereas SF combined classic NWOBHM-style metal with melodic thrash and Celtic folk, HOM is clearly fascinated by progressive rock (especially on the next album); though the 'second' is as metal as can be - in the traditional sense of the word. The result is very eclectic music - from delicate ballads, through power metal blasts, all the way to a purely doom metal, extended finale. Sensational! -

HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE (see also: Slough Feg) - HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE - Dead Revolution - EU Metal Blade Limited Press - LISTENprice: 125,00 PLN / 31,25 EUR
An album (released in a nice gatefold sleeve) by an excellent American band playing progressive heavy rock, led by John Cobbett - the former guitarist of Slough Feg (from the period from "Twilight Of The Idols" to "Atavism"). The playing is genuinely thrilling - a little heavier than on the earlier "17th Street". Limited run. Highly recommended! -

HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE (see also: Slough Feg) - HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE - Overtaker +1 - JAP Spiritual Beast Edition - LISTENprice: 160,00 PLN / 40,00 EUR
The seventh studio album by the band led by John Cobbett. Review from the internet: "It is hard to name standout tracks, because together they work great as a whole. 'Vipers Cross' is a lightning blast of speed, 'Don't Follow The Lights' sounds like King Diamond played backwards at double speed, 'Outside Our Minds' and 'The Raven's Bell' have great riffs. But it is really worth listening to the whole thing." Japanese edition with one bonus track.
