A three-disc set containing all the tracks recorded by the British beat band, reminiscent of The Beatles of the period of the first two albums, from 1963 to 1969. Among them are such classics as "Hippy Hippy Shake", "Good Golly Miss Molly" or "You're No Good", as well as the only British album, "Blue Jeans A' Swinging" from 1964, in full in mono and stereo versions, and all the tracks from their rare release "Don't Make Me Over" from 1966, available only in Canada. It is worth noting that in 1967 three members of Tee Set founded the decidedly more rock-oriented After Tea, known above all for the excellent, heavy rock LP "Joint House Blues" (1970)! Recommended! "Emotion" is the debut album by the Dutch group, containing covers of Wilson Pickett ("In The Midnight Hour"), Joe Tex ("You Better Believe It"), Rufus Thomas ("Can Your Monkey Do The Dog"), Sam Cooke ("Nothing Can Ever Change This Love" and "For Miss Caulker Of The Animals"), as well as the group's original tracks, including the single "Don't You Leave", which for the first time took the band into the top ten of the charts. On this remastered edition, the additional CD contains demo versions and alternative mixes of the group's tracks. -

An excellent album - recorded already without Van Morrison, produced by Kim Fowley and released under the so misleading title... "Them" - but under the name Belfast Gypsies. Very dynamic rhythm'n'blues/freakbeat with a touch of early psychedelia. An edition in a digipak, from 2020, remastered from recently found tapes recorded in London (7 of the 12 tracks). Nine bonus tracks, including the demo "I Want You" from February 1966, an early version of "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue", as well as an alternative mix of "People! Let’s Freak Out ", which was released (without the band's knowledge) by Island under the name Freaks Of Nature. A revelation! (JL) -

Throughout the salad years of the teenage American garage band era, a very similar scene existed in Japan. The second in this three-volume series does a great job of chronicling the most interesting sides from this oddball subgenre. REVIEW FROM THE INTERNET: While the bands collected here could easily play in the mid-'60s fuzztone guitar and Farfisa combo organ style at least as well as their American counterparts, many of them would try to sing in English. The consequent mangling of the lyrical text to any given selection into pure gibberish would produce the predictably -- but unintentionally -- hilarious results. That's the guilty pleasure of this entire series in a nutshell, and if you get the joke, this compilation makes great listening for '60s garage band mavens or lovers of audio perversion.
