Limited to 500 copies, this 58-minute black vinyl comes in a beautiful laminated sleeve with great photos of the band. This superb album was recorded during the Japanese tour of April 1978 promoting the LP 'Taken By Force', which was also the last tour with the Hendrix-loving guitarist Uli Roth. The LP includes, among other things, unreleased tracks taken from the master tape ('Catch Your Train', a 10-minute version of 'Hell-Cat' with snippets of Jimi Hendrix songs, and a performance of a 'Japanese anthem in the style of the Star-Spangled Banner'), as well as alternative, sometimes longer versions of recordings from the tapes that gave rise to the brilliant 1978 LP 'Tokyo Tapes'. The 3 additional tracks (lasting just 12 minutes) were recorded from the audience (with recently remastered sound), but they sound really very good. I stress: not a single second of this material appeared on the original vinyl version of the classic 'Tokyo Tapes', whereas those 46 minutes in superb quality eventually made it onto the expanded deluxe CD edition years later. An absolute must! Condition: NEW, but not shrink-wrapped. -

STEWART, AL - AL STEWART - Images - His First Three Albums (1967-70) (2CD) - UK Expanded Edition - LISTEN
A very tastefully put together double CD from EMI, containing the first three albums (Bedsitter Images from 1967, Love Chronicle from 1969 and Zero She Flies from 1970) by this artist, who has a very pleasant, warm, though "intelligent" voice. The debut is a really nice, slightly 'Donovan-like' album full of charming soft-rock melodies, often adorned with plush orchestrations. But the best was yet to come! The second in his discography, released two years later, Love Chronicle is an absolute REVELATION! This fantastic album, sadly completely unknown in Poland, was recorded with the participation of 3 members of Fairport Convention (under pseudonyms) and with Jimmy Page on electric guitar! It is a folk-psych-rock masterpiece, full of brilliant melodies and unexpected changes of mood, and also not free of early progressive influences (Hammond organ; an 18-minute folk suite). Everyone who hears this record falls for it on the spot, including fans of dense, progressive blowing-away... And that is despite the fact that it was there that the word "fuck" appeared for the first time in the history of British music (several times...)! Beautiful music! The progressive no. 4 is worth every penny and contains probably the most atmospheric solo in the career of the Led Zep guitarist! The third album was more acoustic than its brilliant predecessor, but still fascinating. All the albums have been supplemented with period bonus tracks previously known from American (now unavailable) CDs. Highly recommended! MUS! -

An excellent album: the fourth, and the last with Rick Wakeman on keyboards. The record still had a folk-rock character (at times psychedelic, with sitar), but for the first time the band appeared with a rock line-up, with a full drum kit and electric guitar. This progressive album includes my favourite track by the band, "The Hangman And The Papist". Highly recommended! -
