RUSH - RUSH - Moving Pictures - EU Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Another rock masterpiece! To tell the truth I cannot recall a better rock record from 1981! Fantastic, spacious production, catchy melodies and still strong, hard-progressive moods (including "Tom Sawyer", "Red Barchetta", "Limelight" and the 11-minute "The Camera Eye")! It reached number 3 on the American charts (+ a Grammy Award for the instrumental, superb track "YYZ") and at the time Rush was probably the biggest star of the heavy rock current! For many fans it was the last genuinely great album by the trio. A MUST! (JL) -

SAMSON (NWOBHM) (see also: Iron Maiden / Hackensack) - SAMSON - Bright Lights: Albums 1979-1981 (5CD) - UK Hear No Evil Recordings - LISTENprice: 190,00 PLN / 47,50 EUR
Sensational! A five-disc box set containing classic NWOBHM material recorded in 1979-1981. Samson played classic, at times heavily sped-up hard rock, still firmly rooted in the 70s (especially on the debut). The box gathers the first three albums ("Survivors" from 1979, "Head On" from 1980 and "Shock Tactics" from 1981 - the last two with the young and still hungry Bruce Dickinson), and in addition a live and excellent-sounding CD recorded at the Reading festival in 1981 has been included. That is exactly where Iron Maiden poached Dickinson! Important information for fans: in addition (for the first time on CD) the original vinyl mix of the LP "Head On", quickly withdrawn from the market, has been included, which I have known for many years and which in my opinion sounds better, more natural than the one known from earlier CDs! In addition the debut album was almost entirely redone (in 1979) with Dickinson's vocal track, some nice tracks from singles have been added and several recordings that were re-recorded after Bruce's departure in 1982 - already with a new vocalist (Nicky Moore of Hackensack). A must! -

SATIN WHALE - SATIN WHALE - Studio Albums 1974-1981 (5CD) - GER MIG Edition - LISTENprice: 200,00 PLN / 50,00 EUR
A five-disc CD box containing five studio albums by a great, progressive German band. The first two titles are excellent! NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: Desert Places (1974, Brain) The debut and at the same time the band's most highly regarded album. Long compositions, a lot of flute, saxophone and organ, an atmosphere close to early Camel or Eloy. Lost Mankind (1975, Nova) Somewhat more jazz-rock and technical than the debut, but still strongly progressive. Includes, among others, "Go Ahead" and "Beyond The Horizon". As a Keepsake (1977, Nova) A somewhat more accessible album, but still kept in a progressive spirit. One of the favourite records of many of the band's fans. A Whale of a Time (1978, Strand) An even bigger turn towards melodic rock and AOR. Conny Plank was among those responsible for production and mixing. Don't Stop the Show (1981, Polydor) The last studio album. The sound is now almost entirely rooted in the realities of the early 80s, with few of the former progressive elements. -

TRAPEZE (see also: Deep Purple/Whitesnake/Judas Priest) - TRAPEZE - Midnight Flyers Complete Recordings Volume Two 1974-1981 (5CD BOX) - UK Purple Records Remastered Editionprice: 190,00 PLN 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
The second part of the collection of the band's studio and live albums, this time those recorded after Glenn Hughes left for Deep Purple. His vocal duties were taken over by the guitarist Mel Galley, and he and the drummer Dave Holland were joined by the bassist Pete Wright and the second guitarist Rob Kendrick. This line-up produced the studio albums "Hot Wire" from 1974 and "Trapeze" from 1975, on which Hughes sang as a guest on two tracks. On the next record, "Hold On" from 1979, Kendrick's place was taken by Pete Goalby (later in Uriah Heep), who in turn took over from Galley the role of lead vocalist. Terry Rowley also joined on keyboards. Right after the album's release, Dave Holland left for Judas Priest, and was replaced by Steve Bray. This line-up appears on CD5, which is a recording of concerts in Texas, in May 1981. The other two discs are also live albums: "Live At The Boat Club", from Nottingham, from 13 September 1975 (with the line-up: Galley, Kendrick, Wright, Holland, Rowley) and "Live At Arlington, Texas", from the Texas Hall Auditorium in Arlington, from 12 September 1976, when the band returned with the line-up: Hughes, Galley, Holland. TYGERS OF PAN TANG (see also: Thin Lizzy / Whitesnake) - TYGERS OF PAN TANG - Live In The UK 1981 - FRA Verne Limited Press - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A limited, 52-minute black vinyl, limited to 500 copies, released in a beautiful laminated sleeve with several rare early photos of the band. This truly excellent album features excerpts from two superb and excellent-sounding concerts from the period of the band's second LP, "Spellbound", from 1981. The brilliant live performance for the BBC (on the first side) is almost the best NWOBHM I have heard. Part of the first side and the entire second part is taken up by a 35-minute performance in Nottingham, from April 1981. This is playing with two lead guitars - with John Sykes (later in Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake) and Robb Weir! Two other recordings from the BBC concert ("Slave To Freedom" and "Raised On Rock") appeared on the official and fairly easily available 12" maxi single "Don't Stop By", so they are not included here. A must! Condition: MINT/NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

The band's third and at the same time last exquisite album. Released a year later, the fourth in the discography, the LP "The Cage" had a much more commercial character (though over the years it has acquired a bit of patina...). -
CD
TYGERS OF PAN TANG (see also: Thin Lizzy / Whitesnake) - TYGERS OF PAN TANG - Spellbound - EU Music On CD Editionprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
The second album, released in the spring of 1981 - with a new vocalist and with the excellent John Sykes (later in Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake) on guitar. It is a great, hard-rock album by one of the most important and most popular bands of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. It is like a harder Thin Lizzy and UFO combined with the Judas Priest of the time - still with a sound from the end of the 70s. -
