A superb, 80-minute double vinyl containing excellent radio material taken from the mega-rare promotional BBC Transcription Service records - issued exclusively for radio stations and absolutely never available in shops! Tempest was formed on the initiative of Colosseum leader Jon Hiseman, bassist Mark Clarke (Colosseum, Uriah Heep), vocalist Paul Williams (ex-Bluesbreakers, Juicy Lucy) and the outstanding guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Igginbottom, Nucleus, and later in Soft Machine and U.K.). The first 54 minutes are a recording of an exquisite concert played as a quintet - with two guitarists: Holdsworth and Ollie Halsall (ex-Patto). As it happened, Halsall, now regarded as one of the best guitarists in rock history, joined the band... a day earlier, hence the guitar attack here is unbelievable! Seriously, there are moments here that are almost impossible to believe! The last 26 minutes are a performance from 1974 - recorded after the release of the second LP - as a trio, though the playing is still very good! ATTENTION! The 1973 material came out a few years ago on the double CD anthology "Under The Blossom", but, with no original BBC vinyl available, Sanctuary used an old bootleg, which was not only muffled but also slowed down! I assure you that the version on this album, limited to 500 copies, simply sounds stunning! The two heavy vinyl records sound perfect - without any surface noise! A MUST! -

A great album! The debut of this Dutch supergroup (a keyboardist from Ekseption, a bassist from Cuby & The Blizzards and a drummer from Focus) belongs to the very canon of European progressive rock. The first track, running to as much as thirteen minutes, is a masterpiece of the art-rock world, resembling the best work of Focus, ELP, Refugee and Yes. I remember that years ago I simply could not tear myself away from this record! Additionally two tracks from the single and the first part of the third LP "White Ladies" (1976). A MUST! -

The record is a must for the stunning, 9-minute version of John Lennon's "Cold Turkey" alone, the rarely played "Prince Kajuku" and "Give Her The Gun", originally a single from 1973. In addition, several rare recordings from a nice show at London's Marquee (with Paul Chapman on second guitar - dismissed from the band right after), including "Boogie For George" and "Goin' Down". For the first time on vinyl! A very attractively produced, in a laminated sleeve, excellent-sounding material lasting exactly 60 minutes, recorded in February 1974, during the tour promoting the LP "Sweet Freedom" for the famous American programme King Biscuit Flower Hour. The old CD versions contained about 75 minutes of music, but because of the time limit on vinyl a rather average drum solo in "Gypsy" and the 6-minute "Rock'n'Roll Medley" were (inconspicuously) removed.
