VARIOUS ARTISTS - Living On The Hill - A Danish Underground Trip 1967-1974 (3CD BOX) - UK Esoteric Remastered Edition

A three-disc box set containing almost four hours of music by Danish bands, from 1967-1974. From the publisher: "From the psychedelic jamming of ALRUNE ROD and YOUNG FLOWERS, to the harder music of THE OLD MAN & THE SEA, HURDY GURDY and DELTA BLUES BAND, to progressive and jazz-oriented bands such as BURNIN’ RED IVANHOE, BLAST FURNACE, CULPEPER’S ORCHARD, MIDNIGHT SUN, PAN, SECRET OYSTER and THOR’S HAMMER, the variety and range of bands emerging from a small country was impressive in its excellence. Some bands, such as THE SAVAGE ROSE, BURNIN' RED IVANHOE, ACHE, MIDNIGHT SUN, SECRET OYSTER, CULPEPER’S ORCHARD and DAY OF PHOENIX achieved some success outside their homeland, while others remained in the Scandinavian backyard. The common thread of all these artists was an emphasis on experimentation and a willingness to cross perceived musical boundaries."
