Gordon Beck was an English pianist and composer who began performing professionally in 1960. After his death in 2011 as many as 26 albums were made available. One of them contains two sessions by his quartet, from 1968, featuring the American vocalist Joy Marshall. Besides the leader, the band consisted of: John McLaughlin - guitar, Jeff Clyne - bass and Tony Oxley - drums. As a bonus, three tracks from an April 1966 session have been included, during which Marshall also sang with Beck's trio. -

ANALOGUE SOUND! A super rare, absolutely first Japanese edition (on dark red vinyl from Odeon) of the famous guitarist's superb second album from 1969. Great playing - undoubtedly one of the heaviest British titles of the late 60s. Rod Stewart, Ron Wood and Tony Newman (later in May Blitz) appear on the record alongside Beck. Attention! This is the best-sounding edition of this album - better than the UK and US versions, which I also have! Plus a lyric insert. The rigid, gatefold, checkered sleeve, unique to Japan, is almost perfect (with slight scuffs inside the gatefold): MINT- / The record is almost like new and sounds excellent: MINT(-) -

A wonderful, pioneering album - unquestionably one of the most important British titles of the late 60s. The record features, among others, Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Keith Moon. In my opinion it is a sort of "Led Zeppelin 0"! Eight bonus tracks from great singles! A MUST! Originally released by Chrysalis in 1973, the only catalogue album by a hard rock quartet that, earlier, without a vocalist, had been called Big Bertha. The band was led by drummer Cozy Powell and guitarist Dave Ball (later in Procol Harum). Very nice, hard-hitting, thoroughbred playing in the style of the harder Free with a large dose of classic Mountain. In addition, 40 minutes of live playing from a London studio! A six-disc set containing an anthology of the British hard rock band, led by the drummer Cozy Powell and the guitarist Dave Ball (later in Procol Harum). The first two CDs contain the band's only album, in a 2023 mix (+ two bonus tracks) and in the original. The next discs are a recording of a performance in London, on 22 October 1973 (with the addition of Powell's solo track "Dance With The Devil", recorded live on American television in 1974) and in Binghamton in New York State, in 1974. The fifth CD contains a performance by the band Big Bertha, that is the earlier incarnation of Bedlam (without the vocalist Frank Aiello), from 3 December 1970, from Hamburg. The last disc of the set contains demo tracks and singles from 1968-1970, on which all the band's instrumentalists played, that is Cozy Powell and the brothers Dave and Denny Ball. The whole thing in a rigid box, with a 28-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! (MU) -

This unique, limited album of nearly an hour contains unreleased, unique 'live' recordings by the brilliant (on their first three albums) progressive Scottish band. The first side is filled with three extended classics of the band, recorded live in the studio (with Virginia Scott additionally on mellotron) for the legendary German programme "Beat-Club" (1971). It all sounds perfect - like recordings made by Vertigo, or better! In my opinion the version of "Time Machine" is even better (slightly heavier) than the one from the second album! For those 28 minutes alone you should own this splendid record. The second part is filled with a 30-minute fragment of a performance in Italy on 4 May 1972, recorded from the audience, that is an 8-minute "MacArthur Park" and a stunning, powerful, 20-minute cover of a classic by the psychedelic band Eire Apparent, "Yes I Need Someone". It sounds very good, you can't tear yourself away, though not as good as the tracks from German TV. The album is adorned with a very nice laminated sleeve containing several rare photos of this underrated band. A MUST! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -
