METALLICA - Live In Gothenburg 1987 - SPA Top Gear Edition - LISTEN - VERY RARE

Limited to 500 copies, a superb, 80-minute recording of Metallica's show in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 13 February 1987! This concert took place three days after the band's show in Katowice - it wrapped up the first European tour with the then-new bassist, Jason Newsted! While the Katowice show exists on bootlegs in dreadful sound quality, Gothenburg was broadcast on the radio and in my opinion, along with Seattle 1989 (from the official box set "Live Shit & Binge"), it is the best and best-recorded Metallica concert of the entire 80s!!! The sound quality is almost ideal, the setlist comes from the first three albums and is a dream! It is hard to imagine a better setlist! The band played solidly, cleanly and a little sharper than on the records, yet still selectively! Besides, it was the last tour on which James Hetfield sang in a higher key - just two years later he began saving his voice... The booklet contains a dozen or so really nice photos from that period, including group shots with Poland's Kat! This is an absolute must for all fans of heavy music! (JL)
