LOVE - Forever Changes - EU Elektra Press - LISTEN

Love's third album is in my opinion one of the five best albums in the history of American rock - containing genuinely beautiful and moving recordings (a bit like Buffalo Springfield's "Again" combined with The Byrds' "Younger Than Yesterday" and The Moody Blues' "In Search Of The Lost Chord"); charming with its sophisticated instrumentation (occasional strings, trumpets, classical guitars), the wonderful, almost angelic vocal of Arthur Lee - and all this prepared in a delicate, psychedelic sauce. For autumn 1967 it was almost a world record in 'progressive' playing, and today it is for me one of the 10-15 records of all time! (JL)
