HUGH BANTON, RANDY BRECKER, PETER FRENCH, TONY REEVES, MARCIN STARZYŃSKI, MARCIN ZAWILSKI - High Times Woman - SINGIEL 7'' - POL Limited Press - LISTEN

A birthday blues composed by the guitarist Marcin Zawilski (Bardzo / Dark Leaves), growing out of the spirit of Led Zeppelin, though rhythmically rooted in the playing of Ginger Baker. The lyrics of "High Times Woman" were written and fantastically sung by Peter French, who began his career in the late 60s in the Brunning Sunflower Blues Band of the former Fleetwood Mac bassist. Shortly afterwards he co-founded Leaf Hound, and then joined Atomic Rooster and Cactus, in which he shared the stage with the Vanilla Fudge rhythm section. Also taking part in the project was Tony Reeves (bass guitar / double bass), known above all from the jazz-rock incarnation of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and from Colosseum. The trumpet and organ solos were recorded by Randy Brecker (Blood Sweat & Tears, Lou Reed, Eric Clapton) - a five-time Grammy winner - and Hugh Banton (Van Der Graaf Genetaror). Marcin Starzyński is responsible for the arrangement and the drums. On the single the track appears in two versions, differing in personnel, while on YouTube both are joined into a single whole. At the beginning it is a mid-tempo blues-rock number. Then, two minutes before the end, it slows down and rolls along like a steamroller, against which a solo appears - on side A Banton on organ, and on B - Brecker on trumpet.
