CAPTAIN BEYOND - Captain Beyond / Sufficiently Breathless (2 on 1) - AUS Progressive Line Edition - VERY RARE - LISTEN

Both albums by the American rock supergroup (vocalist Rod Evans of Deep Purple, guitarist Rhino and bassist Lee Dorman of Iron Butterfly, and drummer Bobby Caldwell of Johnny Winter And), on a single CD. The debut is simply brilliant - without a doubt one of the best hard prog rock albums of that era! Heavy riffs, a juicy sound and instrumental virtuosity, with the individual tracks forming a kind of long suite. Recorded without Evans and Caldwell and rather uneven, the second album was to some extent inspired by the work of Santana and, despite many nice moments, unfortunately lacks the power of the rousing debut. Australian CD. Highly recommended!
