ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEY SHOVELL - Don't Hear It... Fear It! - UK Rise Above Edition - LISTEN

This British band plays, sounds and looks as if it had been plucked straight from 1970-73! The sensational debut album combines the best of heavy rock from 40 years ago: the heaviness of Black Sabbath, the raw sound of MC5 and Blue Cheer, the finesse of Cream and Led Zeppelin and the untamed energy of the Budgie debut... Yes indeed, this material, recorded as a trio, is probably most reminiscent of the first album by the Welshmen. The whole thing sounds as if the musicians had simply walked into the studio, grabbed their instruments and recorded everything in one go! A great record, though the rather raw vocal may not appeal to everyone... Definitely recommended. (K)
