SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Digital Resistance - EU Metal Blade Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 80,00 PLN 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The excellent studio record was released in a digipak by Metal Blade Records - in existence since 1982 and probably the most important record label in the history of metal, where over 20 years ago Metallica and Slayer started out! What is there to write - the album is superb (like every one recorded by Mike and co.) and probably their best since 2005! Most bands, on joining Metal Blade, would probably have recorded something the label, or the metal public, would expect. The quartet, however, made no compromise at all; they did not change studio, producer or metallise the sound (quite the contrary - they seemed to go back even further into the 70s) - they simply presented once again classically delivered, quite melodic hard rock with an old sound and two lead guitars (and an acoustic one jangling at times in the background) - something like a slightly heavier Thin Lizzy (of the LP 'Black Rose' period) combined with old Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and very early Iron Maiden - but without speed-ups, rather. I remind you that 'Digital Resistance' is the first studio record made by the band after the CD/2LP 'Made In Poland' was made - released by my, that is, our, Polish Megadisc :-) The 15-minute promo film 'Made In Poland' is placed in the second music link. One more thing... The band will probably not conquer the metal world with its ambitious, heavy playing, but at least it turned out that, in promoting the band's music for years, I was probably right about its talent! A MUST! (JL) -

SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Digital Resistance - EU Metal Blade PURPLE/GREY VINYL Limited Press + POSTER - LISTEN - OSTATNIE SZTUKIprice: 180,00 PLN / 45,00 EUR
LP OUT OF PRINT! Released in mid-February 2014 in a run of 150 numbered copies, coloured vinyl by the California group playing traditional metal! The record was released in a gatefold sleeve with a sticker (+ a sizeable four-fold poster with an enlarged cover) by Metal Blade Records - in existence since 1982 and probably the most important record label in the history of metal! What is there to write - the album is superb - like every one recorded by Mike and co. Perhaps not the best of their career, but certainly not inferior to any (excellent) title recorded after the CD "Atavism"! Most bands, on joining Metal Blade, would probably have recorded something the label, or the metal public, would expect. The quartet, however, made no compromise at all; they did not change studio, producer or metallise the sound (quite the contrary - they seemed to smooth it out even further) - they simply presented once again classically delivered, quite melodic hard rock with an old sound and two lead guitars (and an acoustic one jangling at times in the background) - something like a slightly heavier Thin Lizzy combined with old Judas Priest and very early Iron Maiden - but without speed-ups, rather. LAST COPIES! Released in a very stylish gatefold sleeve (different from the private CD from 1996, as well as the original double LP from 2002, expanded with demo recordings), and pressed at 45 RPM to improve the dynamics, a VINYL REISSUE of the brilliant debut of The Lord Weird Slough Feg (that is what Mike Scalzi's band was called until 2004), containing a chunk of fantastic, raw and at the same time epic metal in the style of early Iron Maiden with a touch of Black Sabbath, a pinch of thrash and elements of Celtic melody! This is the band's most intense, raw (but by no means primitive) and direct record! Eight, very well produced tracks, played as a trio, lasting 26 minutes in total - exactly like on the CD of 1996 pressed in 500 copies! Not too long, but very, very intense! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! (JL) -

SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Made In Poland (Live In Warsaw 2011) - POL Megadisc Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Well, sometimes dreams come true! This is a recording of the concert organised by Megadisc on 2 August 2011, during the tour promoting the CD "The Animal Spirits". Released by us in a run of 500 copies, the 70-minute CD with a 32-page booklet is the ninth in the official discography, and the first live album of THE BEST METAL FORMATION OF THE LAST 25 YEARS! I remind you that California's Slough Feg play traditional, melodic (in the positive sense of the word), strongly eclectic, heavy rock/metal with an old sound (for two lead guitars) in the style of the early recordings of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy! Since 2006 I have been a staunch (even manic) fan of this San Francisco quartet and I genuinely consider them an exceptional formation - simply perfect! 'Made In Poland' is a 100% official recording, released in close cooperation with Slough Feg, of a fantastic (lasting 105 minutes in total) concert that (organised by Megadisc for an audience that was, unfortunately, small...) took place at Progresja in Warsaw. The record contains 72 minutes of excellent, traditional metal - and what is more sounding SENSATIONAL! The concert itself was very well amplified (it is worth stressing that the musicians played on specially imported, old, classic Marshall, Hiwatt and Mesa Boogie sound equipment and on old drums that once belonged to Acid Drinkers!), but the quality of the recorded material exceeded my wildest expectations! Mike Scalzi's vocal sounds wonderful, very mature (the guy probably did not sing out of tune once!), both guitars play their parts loudly, clearly, in the old style and with great separation for each channel, and the drum sound is a true revelation - you can hear almost every hit, even the quietest! How different this sounds from the typical "cardboard shoebox" - the dull sound characterising 90% of live albums released today! I admit immodestly that I cannot recall a better recorded live metal album! 'Made in Poland' (a title that is both a patriotic outburst and a kind of tribute to Deep Purple's 'Made In Japan' - my favourite album of all time...) stylistically strongly resembles a combination of Thin Lizzy's "Live And Dangerous", UFO's "Strangers in the Night", Scorpions' "Tokyo Tapes" and Judas Priest's "Unleashed In The East"! Yes! Those four heavy rock monsters of the late 70s - each with the parts of two lead guitars in the main roles! I am not exaggerating in the least! Besides, 'Made In Poland' sounds as if it had been recorded somewhere between 1977 and 1981 - with numerous passages sounding as if they had been made even earlier! At the same time, hand on heart, I must write that in my opinion the Slough Feg live album is no inferior to any of the above titles either in the quality of the compositions or in performance! ATTENTION! NO OVERDUBS WHATSOEVER were used on the record apart from the editing of the audience noise and some individual sounds (tuning) or announcements. Personally I consider this vinyl a great musical event and at the same time a real treat for lovers of juicy, guitar-driven playing with a clear melody, but as the publisher of the record I am probably not very credible. AN ABSOLUTE MUST! ATTENTION! The double vinyl edition ON COLOURED - WHITE AND RED VINYL, IN A CHANGED SLEEVE AND WITH AN ENCLOSED 24-PAGE, COLOUR BOOKLET (containing many more photos than the CD version) came out at the end of December 2012. -

SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG - Twilight Of The Idols - ITA Dragonheart Edition - LISTENprice: 85,00 PLN / 21,25 EUR
I will confess honestly that in recent years nothing in music has grabbed me the way the work of this American band from California has! Released on vinyl in 1998 (and on CD in 1999 - with three more tracks), the second album in the discography was the first Slough Feg record I listened to and after the first ten seconds I already knew it would be a sensation! The band presented very clearly and naturally produced (though sounding almost as if made in the 70s) heavy rock with metal (and even progressive) influences - the kind that was played in 1978-83, that is, a combination of the style of early Black Sabbath, early Iron Maiden, the epic, traditional metal of Manilla Road and elements of Celtic folk and acoustic guitars. I mean superb, very memorable melodies, juicy, heavy, catchy guitar riffs (often as if lifted from "Master Of Reality" or "Vol. 4"), fairly extended, instrumental passages and of course plenty of changes of tempo and mood... A big plus of the band is the vocalist Mike Scalzi, blessed with a wonderful, magnetic and genuinely fantastic voice - at once leader and author of almost all the band's music. I would stake my head that every fan of heavier sounds will be delighted by this band's music and will not be able to tear themselves away from their records for years - just like me! Original Italian CD from Dragonheart. AN ABSOLUTE MUST! (JL) -

SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Animal Spirits + 4 PODPISY / 4 SIGNATURES !!! - ITA Cruz Del Sur 1st Press - LISTEN - LAST COPYprice: 600,00 PLN / 150,00 EUR
The LAST copy of the album "The Animals Spirits" on LP, signed by the whole Slough Feg line-up: Mike Scalzi, Adrian Maestas, Angelo Tringali and Harry Cantwell (now out of the band). The signatures are of course authentic and were made at the Megadisc premises - the day after the band's Warsaw concert organised by us (2 August 2011). We consider this a great treat for true fans, all the more so as a second opportunity to meet the band, or to organise a concert, is unlikely to occur, and this kind of 'gadget' never gets cheaper! SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Animal Spirits - ITA Cruz Del Sur 1st Press - LISTEN - OSTATNIE SZTUKIprice: 250,00 PLN / 62,50 EUR
Vinyl edition of Slough Feg's eighth studio album. Another portion of classic, traditional playing coming from the school of Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest and early Iron Maiden - with a pinch of Celtic folk. The whole thing sounds as if it had been produced in the 80s, and sometimes even the 70s (which is nice, I think) and comes across as a slightly gentler and more polished version of the albums "Atavism" and "Hardworlder". And that wonderful, in its own way warm tenor of Mike Scalzi! In the last track Bob Wright - vocalist of the sorely missed group Brocas Helm - sang as a guest! Besides that, the band presented an excellent cover of the track "The Tell-Tale Heart" - originally sung by Arthur Brown and taken from the debut LP of The Alan Parsons Project, from 1976. I have listened to the record "The Animal Spirits" many times and consider it downright sensational - classically hard rock, played with heart and so catchy that you want to listen to it endlessly. Next to the music of Slough Feg, the latest output of Iron Maiden, Metallica or any popular metal groups simply does not exist... Complete with a single, coloured insert with photos (which are not on any CD edition!). Out of print, we have the last two copies! A MUST! -

LP NOW OUT OF PRINT! A black vinyl released in mid-February 2014 in an edition of 300 copies, by a traditional metal band from California! The record was released in a gatefold sleeve with a sticker (+ a poster, folding out to four large panels, with an enlarged cover) by Metal Blade Records - in existence since 1982 and probably the most important record label in the history of metal! What is there to write - the album is superb - like every one recorded by Mike and company. Perhaps not the best of their career, but certainly not inferior to any of the (excellent) titles recorded after the CD "Atavism"! Well, sometimes dreams come true! This is a recording of the concert organised by Megadisc - on 2 August 2011, during the tour promoting the CD "The Animal Spirits". Released in a run of 500 copies, the vinyl version is a minute and a half longer, newly mastered, and as a result sounds brighter, more expressive and slightly more dynamic! 72 minutes of music have been released in a gatefold, laminated sleeve with a changed front - on two clear vinyls: white and red - like the Polish flag! In addition we have enclosed (slipped in loose) a 24-page booklet (30cm by 30cm on top-quality coated paper with a stiffened cover taken from the CD version) containing 90 large, colour photos from Warsaw - most of them unpublished on the CD. I admit that the whole thing looks simply stunning - like an outstandingly 'lavish' album from the mid-70s! I do not recall a 24-page, colour booklet in any live record! Released exclusively by our own, Polish Megadisc (the band itself decides on its live recordings, hence this possibility!) - the ninth in the official discography, and the first live album of THE BEST METAL FORMATION OF THE LAST 25 YEARS - on double vinyl! I remind you that California's Slough Feg play traditional, melodic (in the positive sense of the word), strongly eclectic, heavy rock/metal with an old sound (for two lead guitars) in the style of the early recordings of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy! SLOUGH FEG (see also: Hammers Of Misfortune) - SLOUGH FEG - Atavism - ITA Cruz Del Sur Edition - LISTENprice: 85,00 PLN / 21,25 EUR
The fifth album and at the same time the first under the shortened name Slough Feg (previously The Lord Weird Slough Feg) - without a doubt the most underrated band of the last 15 years! Well, let us hope that this will finally change! "Atavism" was the third and last album recorded with the (second) guitarist and at the same time leader of the excellent band Hammers Of Misfortune (in which Slough Feg's vocalist Mike Scalzi was also involved) - John Cobbett. It is an album somewhat different from the brilliant "Traveller" (2003) that preceded it - although the playing here was still dense, heavy, and at times fast, intricate and almost progressive, the group introduced somewhat more acoustic elements and bet even more on melody. The melodies, in turn, are so catchy that when it ends your hand reaches for the PLAY button on its own! Another fantastic piece of material, whose only flaw is (like most of the band's records) its running time: 38 minutes. I devote a good deal of space to the Californians, but they genuinely deserve it. Indeed, instead of languishing in the underground (tickled by the unanimous delight of metal fans and critics - please check online...) - it is they who should be playing stadiums for tens of thousands of spectators! A MUST! (JL)
