This limited, excellently recorded, 58-minute LP gathers superb, rare material by the best (alongside Colosseum) British jazz-rock band, taken from radio sessions (1970-1972) for the BBC. The first side of the record is filled by two sessions from 1970-1971, that is, from the period of the second and third albums (of course in altered versions). The second side is filled by an exquisite, half-hour concert recorded in summer 1972, just after the release of the fourth record. I must stress that the band plays slightly more dynamically here than on the catalogue albums, and the sound quality is simply ideal - as on the studio titles! In my opinion this is the best IF I have heard! It is exquisite to listen to from start to finish! A must! NEW, SEALED. -

Superb material coming from radio sessions (1970-1972) once pressed by the BBC Transcription Service on super rare, promotional vinyls. Three studio sessions (ten tracks in all, lasting over 50 minutes) come from the period of the first three albums, and the excellent, half-hour concert was recorded after the fourth record was made. The studio material had not been published on CD before, while the live part appeared among the bonus tracks on the old CD version of "If 4". I must stress that the band plays better here than on the catalogue albums, and the sound quality is simply ideal - like on studio titles! What is more, only one composition is performed twice ("Seldom Seen Sam" live), so the whole is superb to listen to - like a kind of "The Best Of If"! The run of this CD is 500 copies and it will not be available forever. A MUST! -

Originally released in 1973 (curiously, initially outside Great Britain), the fifth album by a British, jazz-progressive formation. In my opinion it was the last genuinely progressive (that is, containing extended compositions with a lot of improvisation) and truly successful album by this excellent group! Recommended! -

The debut album by a once popular British progressive band based on the interplay of wind instruments (saxophones, flute), Hammond organ and great guitar. Something like early Jethro Tull with early Blood Sweat & Tears. Nice compositions and excellent musicianship. Remastered edition with two bonus tracks. All the band's early records (up to 1972) belong to the canon of rock! Highly recommended! (JL) -
