A fantastic album from Japan, originally released in 1972! Takeshi Terauchi is a master of the guitar and in the 60s was a great star of Japanese guitar pop-rock in the style of The Shadows. In 1972 he turned towards heavier rock and with his band recorded the fantastic LP "Rashomon", inspired by Kurosawa's film. It was a combination of psychedelic, heavy rock with surf music and Japanese folk - with the superb sound of heavily overdriven (and clean) guitars in the leading role! On screen it may look strange, but the end result is stunning! "Rashomon" is one of my favourite records from Japan - I have known it since the early 90s, when I received a parcel with CDs by Blues Creation, Speed Glue And Shinki, Far Out and Flower Travellin' Band! A great treat for rock fans looking for something a little different! A must! (JL)
