STONED ROSE - Stoned Rose – From Dawn To Jane - Guerssen Record Editionprice: 150,00 PLN / 37,50 EUR
A compilation of studio recordings by a British heavy rock band from 1970-1971, which for years remained in the archives. It is a great example of a "missing link" between the psychedelia of the late 60s and the emerging heavier rock of the 70s. The guitars are heavy for their time, at moments almost brushing against proto-metal, and at the same time there are extended, lightly progressive structures. For fans of early hard rock and psychedelia it will be a very valuable discovery, bringing to mind early Black Sabbath, Leaf Hound mixed with High Tide and Arzachel and at times early Pink Floyd. -

TRAFFIC - TRAFFIC - Heaven Is In Your Mind (Mr. Fantasy) - US Sundazed MONO Press - LAST COPYprice: 250,00 PLN / 62,50 EUR
Sundazed reissue of the debut album in its American and, what is more, monophonic version! Not only did the American release differ from the British edition (issued there under the title "Mr. Fantasy") in its cover, it also had a different track listing. "Heaven Is In Your Mind" contains, among others, single tracks such as "Paper Sun" and "Hole In My Shoe". A chunk of superb music - typical English pop-psychedelia combined with folk (that is, acoustic guitars) and guitar rock. Out of print 2009 edition, sealed. -

TRIPSICHORD - TRIPSICHORD - Tripsichord (2LP) - ITA Akarma Press - LISTENprice: 210,00 PLN / 52,50 EUR
An American, cult band, also known under the name Tripsichord Music Box, whose only album belongs to the front rank of psychedelic, guitar-driven playing. Someone once said that "this is how the third Quicksilver Messenger Service album should have sounded"... And they had a lot of right! I would also compare this group with the British Mighty Baby. The second record contains great tracks from the ultra-rare compilation "Fifth Pipe Dream" and from a rare single. -

An American cult band, also known under the name Tripsichord Music Box, whose only album belongs to the top of psychedelic, guitar-driven playing. I would also compare this band to the British Mighty Baby. 2024 American reissue, on yellow vinyl. Highly recommended! (JL) -

TROYKA - TROYKA - Troyka +1 - EU Sun King Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Originally released by Cotillion in 1970, the only, but excellent, album by a Canadian trio playing a combination of a heavy variety of psychedelic rock with strong vocals - in the style of Hendrix and Sir Lord Baltimore, with elements of Eastern European (mainly Ukrainian) folklore (mandolin) and early Captain Beefheart. There is not a single boring track on the record and I remember that many years ago it was an absolute killer for me! In addition the record includes a 6-minute, heavy guitar number, unreleased on vinyl, from the same recording session! 2024 reissue, in a single sleeve enlivened with two photos. Highly recommended! Condition: NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - BBC Sessions 1968-1971 (2LP) - FRA Verne Records Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Lasting nearly 120 minutes, an excellent, limited double album containing fantastic material recorded by the progressive Brits during several different sessions for BBC radio - live (with minimal overdubs) in the studio, as well as during two performances. This is the earliest Van der Graaf - from the period of the first four, best records. Half the recordings appeared earlier on the LPs "After The Flood" and "Visions" (both released by Verne and now out of print), but 50 minutes had not previously appeared on vinyl (including "Lost" from the October 1970 session, or the 27-minute live excerpt from September 1971 containing, among others, a short cover of "Dambuster March" - importantly - at the correct speed)! It is also worth mentioning that "Killer" from October 1970 is in its full, 8-minute form and sounds miles better than the unfinished version on the official CD box set! All the tracks sound perfect (or close to ideal), except for a few rarities, such as the officially unreleased "Octopus" (from October 1968) and the live "Squid 1/Squid 2" and "Whatever Robert Would Have Said" (both from August 1970) - recorded in an amateur way by fans, from the radio. A must! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - British Psychedelic Rock At The BBC 1967-1969 (2LP) - UK Maida Vale / Verne LIMITED Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Each of the four thematic parts of 'At The BBC' contains 120 minutes of what I consider superb material recorded live by the individual artists (with only very few overdubs) during several-hour sessions at the Maida Vale studios in London. The BBC employed the best British sound engineers, and as a result almost every band recording there sounded sensational - often better and more dynamic than on their records! Besides, many of them played tracks never released on vinyl or sometimes very surprising covers of other artists' recordings. The sound quality is fantastic - simply perfect! Only in a dozen or so cases (out of nearly 130 recordings) were fragments of slightly poorer, but definitely acceptable, quality used. Note! Almost all the recordings have never before appeared on vinyl, and only a few appeared on CDs, and generally with much poorer sound quality! The vast majority of the tracks came from very rare promotional records intended for foreign radio stations. The tracks on them were enriched with short, emotional introductions by the brilliant DJ Brian Matthew, who genuinely added a special flavour to these recordings! I am a great fan of his! In my opinion the stunning gatefold sleeves, with wonderful late 70s designs by Rodney Matthews, contain every detail about the individual recordings: exact recording dates, apt photographs and the line-ups of all the bands, and even short, one-sentence and really spot-on comments assigned to each track. Believe me - you cannot tear yourself away from these records! Please do not suggest to yourself that they are 'some compilations' or products of inferior quality! Hardly anyone will believe me, but as a great fan (and collector) of recordings from the BBC archives, hand on heart I consider these four titles (and especially "Psychedelic Rock" and "British Rock") the best vinyl reissues of the last 10 or 15 years! AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!! NEW, SEALED. ....................................... The English text below I received from the publisher. It may be hard to read, but with some concentration it is genuinely very helpful! I especially recommend the short comments! ........................ Limited to 500 copies, double black vinyl edition released in beautiful cover with cool pictures and line ups of ALL bands inside the gatefold. This splendid, 120 minute/38 tracks collection (a real labour of love) not only offers an exeptional and often superior renditions of a tracks familiar through the band's original vinyl output, but also a plenty of cracking performances that they never recorded outside the BBC Maida Vale studios. During the 60s and early 70s the BBC was committed to air a substantial amount of live music within its radio broadcasting and as a result, hundreds of popular or less-known British artists were employed to fill that standards. BBC Transcription Service used some of these sessions for promotional-only albums pressed on a weekly basis (supposedly in a quantity of 100 copies) and destined for radio stations all over the world. It was a vinyl LP with yellow-green record labels, housed in a rather plain, yellow sleeve and filled with paper sheets with song titles, time durations and a running order for the show. Most of the tracks included on this release came from long-running 'Top Of The Pops' compilation series (unconnected to the popular TV show) and short-lived 'Pick Up The Pops For Your D.J.’ LP releases, which took radio performances mostly from the prime pop shows of the time like 'Top Gear', 'Saturday Club', 'Sounds Of The Seveties', that aired live and specifically recorded music. All tracks were also adorned with a fresh commentary from (now legendary) DJ Brian Matthew. Aside from BBC promotional discs, in a very few, fully justified cases an unique, home taped, off-air recordings (expertly remastered and restored and marked below as *) were used. The inner gatefold features a band photos and specific line ups. ALMOST ALL TRACKS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED ON VINYL!.... SIDE 1: (29:50) 1. VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Look At The Sun - Precious Seconds Thought Gone From The British Underground 1967-1970 + T2 EP - UK Top Sounds Limited Press - OSTATNIE SZTUKIprice: 300,00 PLN / 75,00 EUR
Under this somewhat complicated title ("Look at the sun - precious seconds thought to be irretrievable...") hides another fantastic compilation from the collectors' label Top Sounds - hitherto known for the three parts of the psychedelic series "Shapes & Sounds" (containing fantastic recordings from the BBC archives) and the compilation "Alphabeat" (containing very rare British bands ripped from super rare vinyls/acetates). The fifth title contains both BBC recordings (T2 x 2 - both unknown, including one from the same session as the three bonus tracks on the "Boomland" CD; Kaleidoscope x 2 - one unknown and one in better quality than on the BBC CD; Elastic Band with Paul McCartney's brother on vocals - unknown; Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera x 2 - both unknown and The Fleur De Lys - unknown) and great tracks by little-known or completely forgotten groups, including the great, psychedelic, Floyd-like formation Louise (two tracks), in which played the future guitarist of the group Fuchsia and... drummer Chris Cutler - later a member of Henry Cow and owner of the label Recommended Records. Either way, for relatively little money (compared with the originals worth many thousands...) you can have a chunk of fantastic playing (67 minutes) - and what is more, wonderfully packaged (32-page booklet). Both T2 tracks are placed on a 7-inch single (at 45 RPM). It is worth knowing, though, that the CD contains two more tracks by the unknown group The Glass Opening. A MUST! THE VINYL IS OUT OF PRINT - WE HAVE THE LAST COPIES! -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Nuggets - Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 (2LP) - EU ORANGE VINYL Pressprice: 300,00 PLN / 75,00 EUR
A double compilation of American psychedelic and garage singles that were released in the mid or late 60s. "Nuggets" was created by Lenny Kaye, who was a salesman at the record shop Village Oldies in New York. It was made under the supervision of the founder of Elektra Records, Jac Holzman. Kaye thought of the project as a series of about eight parts, focusing on different regions of the USA, but Elektra convinced him that one double album would be more commercially viable. It was released on LP by Elektra in 1972 with notes by Kaye, which contained one of the first uses of the term 'punk rock'. The album was reissued, with a new cover, by Sire Records in 1976. In the 80s Rhino Records released Nuggets in a series of fifteen parts, and in 1998 as a four-CD set. -
