British progressive playing on the borderline of the style of Fantasy, Curved Air and even Indian Summer + vocals reminiscent of Uriah Heep. The album was released in 1972 by Threshold - the label owned by The Moody Blues. Two of the musicians had previously played in Stonehouse, and one in Bulldog Breed. Highly recommended! (JL) -

Excellent, progressive albums (the second and third in the discography) from Spain from 1976-1977 - especially the first of them is superb. The second resembles the best output of ELP and Beggars Opera. The third is slightly gentler, with more synthesisers. Highly recommended! (JL) -
CD
ATLANTIDE - ATLANTIDE - Francesco Ti Ricordi - EU Once Again Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A limited European reissue, awaited on CD for over 20 years, of the only album, from 1976, by an Italian hard-progressive band playing in the style of classic Deep Purple, the debut of Jane, Satin Whale and early Beggars Opera. The album contains seven tracks sung in Italian (though there are few vocals), lasting from 5 to 11 minutes and built on the interplay of organ and pleasantly overdriven guitar. The whole thing sounds decidedly more like 1974 than 1976. This competently arranged album, full of catchy compositions, will delight all fans of the genre! The band consisted of... four brothers, and the whole thing was created in Germany, where the Sanseverino family lived. This powerful album came out as a private pressing limited to 500 copies and today is worth around 500 euros! A must! (JL) -

ATLANTIS (see also: Frumpy / Emergency) - ATLANTIS - Atlantis - GER Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A German band formed after the break-up of Frumpy. You could safely say that this is actually that band's fifth record, since its core (three musicians - including vocalist Inga Rumpf) remained the same. Plenty of Hammond, decent compositions, a few elements of soul. A nice, though rather uneven record. A replica of the original CD from Repertoire Records. -

ATOMIC ROOSTER (see also: Andromeda / Colosseum) - ATOMIC ROOSTER - Radio Sessions And TV Shows 1970-1971 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A limited European CD, lasting 78 minutes, containing radio recordings by one of the best British hard rock bands of the early 70s. Above all the disc contains five recordings in excellent quality, recorded for BBC radio in 1970-1971 (including two tracks with the line-up with Carl Palmer and John Cann). Note! The BBC recordings sound right for the first time, because it turned out that the earlier versions (released, among others, on the Hux CD "Devil's Answer" and as bonus tracks on the reissues of the first two CDs on Sanctuary) sounded decidedly too slow (several of them can be found on YouTube for comparison) - so slow that they were unlistenable! Now all of the first five compositions sound excellent! In addition, the CD contains six tracks (including the 13-minute "I Can't Take No More") also recorded live (1970-1971) in the studio for TV Bremen - also with perfect sound. Finally, three recordings from a concert for BBC radio from 1970 have been added (still with Carl Palmer), in slightly worse but acceptable quality. From start to finish this is a wonderful record - as good as (if not better than) the classic "Death Walks Behind You"! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

ATOMIC ROOSTER (see also: Andromeda / Colosseum) - ATOMIC ROOSTER - Sleeping For Years - Studio Sessions 1970-1974 (First 5 Albums And More) (4CD) - UK Esoteric - LISTENprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A very tastefully produced (five CDs in cardboard slipcases + a thick booklet), excellent four-disc box set from Esoteric, containing the first five remastered, classic albums by this exquisite progressive band: "Atomic Rooster" (1970), "Death Walks Behind You" (1970), "In Hearing Of" (1971), "Made In England" (1982) and "Nice 'n' Greasy" (1973). In addition, plenty of recordings from singles (including a rare one from 1974) and several alternative versions. It is a pity the records are not available individually, but the price is really attractive! A must! (JL) -

ATOMIC ROOSTER (see also: Andromeda / Colosseum) - ATOMIC ROOSTER - Atomic Rooster +3 - JAP Remastered Expanded Card Sleeve Edition - LISTENprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Atomic Rooster are one of the most underrated British bands. The first three albums should be in every self-respecting collection. A powerful, deep sound, ubiquitous Hammonds, great guitar. On the debut, the drum parts were played by Carl Palmer. Remastered 2023 Japanese reissue, expanded with three tracks, in a gatefold card sleeve. (JL) -

ATTILA - ATTILA - Attila (US heavy-prog with Billy Joel) - US Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A very good, decidedly progressive album recorded with the participation of Billy Joel! The author of Piano Man and Uptown Girl, later known for being tedious, careered here on an overdriven and exuberant Hammond as if the world were ending, accompanied by a pal thrashing hard on the drums... I apologise for this style, but the playing is genuinely rocking, the tracks quite catchy and strongly improvised and the sound decidedly European - not far from Deep Purple. You do not feel the lack of guitar here at all! I highly recommend this album, since it would be hard to find another such organ orgy - and on top of that one that sticks in the ear without any trouble! (JL) -
CD
AUBREY SMALL - AUBREY SMALL - Aubrey Small +2 - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered Expanded Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The sole album by a British band performing music that combined the styles of The Moody Blues, The Beatles (from the "Abbey Road" period) and Neil Young, with elaborate vocal parts. Released in 1971 by Polydor, the record unfortunately got no promotion at all and vanished completely on the market of the day. In addition, two tracks from a single. Highly recommended! -

CD
AUNT MARY - AUNT MARY - Aunt Mary / Janus (1970-1973) - US Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The third and first albums of the excellent Norwegian group on a single CD. "Janus" (1973) was a logical development of the second in the discography, the brilliant LP "Loaded", although it was a somewhat gentler work, with plenty of Hammond, a solid rhythm section and original melodies. The last ten minutes are progressive mastery of the highest order! The debut, recorded in 1970, in turn showed a fascination with early Traffic and Procol Harum. A very decent record, though not as striking as the next two. Both titles are worth around 400-1000 euros on vinyl, so this is certainly an economical purchase! Very good sound quality! Highly recommended! (JL) -
CD
AUNT MARY - AUNT MARY - Loaded +4 - AUS Progressive Line Expanded Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A fantastic band from Norway! The second in their discography, "Loaded" is without a doubt top three of Scandinavian rock! A very dynamic, rock sound based on the interplay of guitars, organ and a very juicy rhythm section. Ease and precision at the same time - these were the traits of many bands from the North. Additionally four tracks from the first two singles, including the fantastic, riffing "Stop Your Wishful Thinking" - without a doubt the band's strongest track ever! Excellent sound quality! A MUST! -
CD
AVE ROCK - AVE ROCK - Ave Rock - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A revelation! Released in Argentina in 1974 by the small Promusica label, this truly excellent debut album by a progressive Argentinian band (worth 500 euros on vinyl in mint condition) featured the classically tinged sound of the Hammond organ and juicy, rather heavy parts for TWO guitars in the foreground. This is world-class playing (in the European manner) - a bit like Deep Purple mixed with Beggars Opera and Focus, and with early Wishbone Ash! At times it is hard to believe how good this music is! In my opinion it is one of the three best progressive albums from South America! A MUST! (JL) -
CD
BABE RUTH (see also: Wild Turkey / Whitesnake) - BABE RUTH - First Base +2 - GER Repertoire Expanded Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 85,00 PLN / 21,25 EUR
Released at the end of 1972, the band's debut album is without a doubt Babe Ruth's best work and at the same time part of the very canon of early 70s prog-rock. Almost every track is rock perfection (including the almost hard-rock "King Kong" by Frank Zappa, "The Mexican", a blend of Morricone and prog-rock, and the quite frankly bewitching "The Runaways", reminiscent of Renaissance at their best)! A slab of superb playing! Repertoire edition (digipak) with additional, previously unreleased tracks from the single. A must! (JL)
