Beautifully presented, remastered edition of the second album by Lynott's formation, expanded with nine tracks (singles, other mixes and four great tracks from the BBC). It was decidedly progressive playing that in its own way combined the style of heavy rock with elements of folk and ballad. The album did not sell at all at the time (which is hardly surprising, as that was the norm then for little-known bands), but soon afterwards the situation changed for the better thanks to "Whiskey In The Jar" (here in a nearly 6-minute version). Blazing, almost hard rock blues (recorded with black musicians) without a doubt inspired by Hendrix and resembling the output of the white formations of the time (e.g. the Savoy Brown debut). Highly recommended! -

Two excellent blues-rock albums on one remastered CD from BGO. "Electric Mud" (1968) is in my opinion the best (read: the most rock) album in the career of the legendary bluesman. Rocking, almost hard-rock blues. "After The Rain", released a year later, was hardly inferior! Musicians from the group Rotary Connection played on both records. Definitely recommended! (K) -
