Lots of strong, guitar riffs; heavy, intense sound - though the record does not lack calmer, balladic moments. On several tracks Gary Pickford-Hopkins (known later from Wild Turkey) sang as a guest. A 2023 Spanish reissue. Highly recommended! -

A black vinyl from Verne, limited to 500 copies and lasting 56 minutes, featuring almost all the band's important early recordings NOT INCLUDED ON THE DEBUT RECORD! Released in a very attractive sleeve with nice early photos of the metalheads, the album contains tracks from three singles and EPs from 1980-1981, two compilations ("Metal Explosion" and "Metal For Muthas" - both from 1980); three great studio recordings from 1982 and several rare live tracks, including a cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid"! So the set of tracks is superb, in my opinion it is as good to listen to as the debut! Sound quality perfect (apart from the two live recordings)! ATTENTION! The three missing recordings from the 1980 BBC radio session are available on the brilliant double "NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) At The BBC - 'Friday Rock Show' Volume 1 - 1980-1982" (2LP). A black vinyl from the Verne label limited to 500 copies, lasting 52 minutes, released in a very attractive, laminated sleeve with nice early photographs of the metalheads from New York. The album contains thirteen speed-thrash recordings made in May 1986 in Bochum in Germany, on the "US Speed Metal Attack" tour (together with the bands Overkill and Agent Steel), promoting the band's second, excellent LP "Spreading The Disease". So the track list is superb (as many as seven tracks from the debut + a unique cover of the band Suicidal Tendencies), and in the New Yorkers' music the rap influences (present from 1987) had not yet appeared. The sound quality for this kind of concert is almost perfect, though it must be admitted that the separation of the individual instruments is not outstanding... A must for every fan of old metal! Condition: MINT / NEW, unsealed. -

At the same time the band could compose catchy melodies that easily stick in the ear, which, combined with excellent, clear production, produced a stunning effect at the time. And finally, the band had probably the best metal drummer (Rob Reiner), next to whom Lars Ulrich sounded like some schoolboy. This is the absolute canon of metal playing! 2019 Canadian edition. -

Released in 1972, a wonderful, double and decidedly progressive album by the Vangelis/Roussos partnership, from the time when both played ambitious rock, although it was the former who was the brains of the band... One of the best items of European prog rock - decidedly different from the band's earlier, more accessible records: "End Of The World" (1969) and "It's Five o'Clock" (1970). There are those who consider this album the best progressive playing in the history of the genre! Anniversary edition on two red vinyls. (JL) -

The second part is live recordings from 1977 (unfortunately of poorer quality) and it is already heavy-progressive, slightly jazzy playing with flute. FIRST TIME IN STEREO! A new, European reissue of a classic from the circle of British psychedelic rock from the end of 1967, ALWAYS RELEASED IN MONO AND NOW MIXED IN TRUE STEREO. It must be admitted that this album, released in December 1967, positively sparkled (like few others) with varied sounds and innovative sonic experiments. The record contains 12 ostensibly varied, but all in all similar to one another, recordings dominated by sharp, steady-rhythm tracks varied with all kinds of distortion and reverb. I have in mind, for instance, the very catchy 'I Think I’m Going Weird', kept in an almost apocalyptic (and lightly classical-leaning) mood; the splendid, electrifying and, for those times, positively heavy metal (although recorded with mellotron) 'Supernatural Fairy Tales' and the unreal and at the same time exemplarily psychedelic 'Room With The View'. The rest of the record did not stray far from them, as it was dominated either by typical psychedelia or by sharp, freakbeat playing. The four musicians of Art (Mike Harrison, Luther Grosvenor, Mike Kellie and Greg Ridley) soon afterwards began working with organist Gary Wright, changing the name to Spooky Tooth. But that's another story... TO DISTINGUISH THIS EDITION FROM THE USUAL MONO VERSIONS, THE PUBLISHER DECIDED TO SWAP THE COLOURS ON THE FRONT SLEEVE! A MUST! Condition: MINT (NEW, unsealed). (JL) -

A new, European reissue of the third album, released in 1973 by Vertigo, by an excellent Norwegian band, once in the absolute top ranks of progressive rock from Scandinavia. It was a logical development of the second album in their discography, the brilliant LP "Loaded", although it was a somewhat gentler work, with plenty of Hammonds, a solid rhythm section and original melodies. The last ten minutes are progressive mastery of the world! The original Norwegian vinyl in perfect condition costs 800 euros, so it is probably worth investing 3% of that amount in an almost identical-looking, attractive edition in a gatefold sleeve and with great sound.
