BLACK SABBATH - BLACK SABBATH - California Jam 1974 - Live - SPA Top Gear Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Limited, cleaned-up and veeery good-sounding, mixing-desk-sourced 80-minute CD, containing the full, 65-minute performance recorded in April 1974 at the huge festival (known, among other things, for the Deep Purple performance), on the tour promoting the LP "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"! What is there to say... Ozzy was in form, the band played very precisely and improvised a great deal (especially in the fantastic "Instrumental Jam"), and the set of tracks - like a dream! Alongside the two killers from 1970 (Brussels and Montreux), the excellent performance from Asbury Park from 1975 (available on 2CD) and the catalogue "Live At Last" recorded in 1973, I find it hard to recall a better performance from the 70s! Simply in terms of sound quality it is top five! In addition three (unfortunately rather poorly recorded) tracks from this tour are included - including probably the only known performances of "A National Acrobat" and "Changes" - priceless!!! An absolute must! (JL) -

BLACKFOOT SUE - BLACKFOOT SUE - Strangers +3 - US Mandala Expanded Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Recorded in 1974 but not released until 1977, and only in the States, the second studio album by a British formation, unfortunately inferior to the very good debut though with some decent moments (including the opening "Care To Believe" and the closing, 11-minute "1812"). Recommended. (K) -

BLODWYN PIG (see also: Jethro Tull / Mick Abrahams) - BLODWYN PIG - BBC Sessions 1969-1974 - FRA Lumpy Gravy - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Superb, limited to 500 copies, wonderfully recorded, 80-minute CD containing all the very good quality recordings available on the market made for BBC radio (by the excellent, British, progressive formation led by Jethro Tull's first guitarist) in 1969-1974. On the tracks from the 1974 reunion (including a 30-minute, excellent live performance for a small audience) the drummer was Clive Bunker, known from Jethro Tull! ATTENTION! 10 brand new compositions (6 from 1974) did not appear on records, so one could almost say that a third, unrecorded album is contained here: live/studio from 1974! On two tracks by the group Blodwyn, Peter Banks, known from early Yes, played guitar! This CD beats hands down the long out-of-print (and on closer inspection somewhat deceptive, since it contains several tracks from the 90s) CD 'Basement Tapes'. That is a completely different conversation! Great sound quality - the two recordings available on YouTube are of worse quality than on the CD! A MUST! (JL) -

BLODWYN PIG (see also: Jethro Tull / Mick Abrahams) - BLODWYN PIG - British Radio Sessions 1969-1974 (2LP) - EU Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 200,00 PLN / 50,00 EUR
LAST COPIES! Blodwyn Pig is an excellent, British progressive (jazzy-bluesy) formation led by Mick Abrahams - the first guitarist of Jethro Tull. This superb double vinyl, limited to 500 copies, of nearly 120 minutes (modelled almost 100% on the old release from the label Chrysalis) contains almost all the very good quality recordings available on the market made for BBC radio in 1969-1974. In addition 35 live recordings made somewhere in the British Isles in 1970 are included. On the tracks from the 1974 reunion (including the 30-minute, excellent live performance for a small audience) the drummer was Clive Bunker, known from Jethro Tull! ATTENTION! Ten brand new compositions (six from 1974) did not appear on records, so one could almost say that a third, unrecorded album is contained here: live/studio from 1974! On two tracks by the group Peter Banks, known from early Yes, played guitar! Great sound quality (the 1970 concert slightly worse)! Inside the gatefold sleeve there are old articles from the late 60s! Plenty of interesting reading and several nice photos! A MUST! -

BLOODROCK - BLOODROCK - Passage / Whirlwind Tongues (1972-74) - GER Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The last two catalogue records by a legend of American heavy playing! The LP "Passage", released in 1972, is a slab of almost progressive (Hammond, Moog, flute) and very competent playing - resembling a little the earliest, but somewhat heavier, work of Kansas. This CD is worth having for this album alone! The later "Whirlwind Tongues" contained simple, somewhat heavy rock - nothing worth attention. Even so I highly recommend it to all lovers of the earlier five Bloodrock albums! -

BLUE EFFECT (Modry Efekt) - BLUE EFFECT - A Benefit Of Radim Hladik - CZECHOSLOVAKIAN Supraphon 1978 EXPORT Press - NEAR MINT VINTAGE VINYLprice: 300,00 PLN / 75,00 EUR
ANALOGUE SOUND! A very rare, Czechoslovak export pressing in a special Supraphon sleeve (from 1978) of a superb, jazz-rock, guitar-driven album made in 1974. Blue Effect (and later Modry Efekt) is probably the best Czech band - with the great, not to say mind-blowing guitarist Radim Hladik. The sleeve, laminated on the front, is almost perfect: MINT(-) / The vinyl apparently unplayed: MINT(-) -

BLUE OYSTER CULT (see also: Stalk-Forrest Group) - BLUE OYSTER CULT - Secret Treaties +5 - JAP Remastered Expanded Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
The Americans' great third album combined heavyish, guitar rock with elements of psychedelia and sci-fi. The album contains, among others, the excellent "Subhuman", "Career Of Evil" and "Astronomy", the last known from Metallica's cover. This LP (and also the excellent double live album from 1975 released soon afterwards) closed the band's earliest and darkest period. A remastered edition with five bonus tracks. Highly recommended! BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Live In Sweden, September 1974 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A European, limited edition of a very good 73-minute concert, played by the Welshmen in Orebro, Sweden, in September 1974, on the tour promoting their fourth LP, "In For The Kill". On drums was the John Bonham-style Pete Boot. The sound quality (for an audience recording) is very good, but not perfect. Tony Bourge's guitar can be heard excellently, as well as the drums and bass, but Shelley's vocal is somewhat covered by the instruments. The band played brilliantly, the setlist is splendid (including the only known live version of "Living On Your Own"), and the disc is quite tastefully packaged. A must for hard rock fans! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

BUDGIE - BUDGIE - In For The Kill! +4 - UK Noteworthy Expanded Edition - LISTENprice: 100,00 PLN / 25,00 EUR
Released in 1974, the brilliant fourth album - probably the heaviest title in the band's discography. The album includes the great title track, "Crash Course In Brain Surgery", released on the debut single (back in 1971), the 10-minute "Zoom Club" rolling along like a steamroller, "Hammer And Tongs", evidently modelled on "Dazed And Confused", and the hard-progressive "Living On Your Own". In addition the unique single version of "Zoom Club" and three tracks in new versions. A MUST! -
LP
BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Live At The Marquee February 1974 - EU Atos / Verne Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A very nicely produced, limited vinyl in a laminated sleeve, containing the legendary concert from London's Marquee, from February 1974, recorded on the tour promoting the LP "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend". Pete Boot on drums! The sound quality (an audience recording) is very good (better than the excerpt on YouTube), but not ideal. Everything can be heard, although the vocal is slightly at the back. The great attraction of this concert was the guest appearance of Rob Halford and Judas Priest (even before the LP "Rocka Rolla") in "Running From My Soul". A very good setlist ("The Stumble", the aforementioned "Running From My Soul" played twice), it differs slightly from the other London show, known from the LP "Live In London 1974". In addition, the only known live performance of the superb "Living On Your Own" (from the LP "In For The Kill"), from September 1974, has been included. Highly recommended! NEW, SEALED. -
LP
BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Live In London 1974 - FRA Verne Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Released in a run of 500 copies, European, limited edition of an excellent 53-minute concert (recorded by British radio) played by the Welshmen at a London club in March 1974 - exactly half a year after the release of the third album, and six months before the fourth record. And you can hear it! On drums Pete Boot had just replaced Ray Phillips (unfortunately for only a few months), and he proved himself superbly on the later released LP "In For The Kill". The material from this vinyl had appeared earlier on the CD "Radio Sessions", but fortunately someone has now sat down for a while with the sound, improved it quite clearly (there are now more high tones, though there is plenty of bass as well, sudden differences in the recording level have been evened out) and nicely cut out the poor remnants of the radio presenter's chatter ("Budgie! This is Budgie"). The pressing quality is very good! This is exactly the kind of album that should have come out over 40 years ago as the official live album of this excellent group! It is great that on the back of the sleeve you can see unique photos of this short-lived line-up! A MUST! NEW, sealed. -

BUDGIE - BUDGIE - In For The Kill - UK Noteworthy Pressprice: 190,00 PLN / 47,50 EUR
Vinyl edition made by the band. Released in 1974, the brilliant fourth album - probably the heaviest title in the band's discography. The album contains, among others, the great title track, "Crash Course In Brain Surgery", released on the debut single (as early as 1971), the 10-minute "Zoom Club", rolling like a speeding steamroller, "Hammer And Tongs", obviously modelled on "Dazed And Confused", and the hard-progressive "Living On Your Own". A MUST! -

BUFFALO (AUS) - BUFFALO - Only Want You For Your Body +3 - EU Sun King Expanded Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A new, European reissue of the third and at the same time last, truly great record by this Australian band, released in 1974 by Australian Vertigo in a controversial, gatefold sleeve (it wouldn't pass today...)! The band combined the best of early Black Sabbath, Grand Funk and Ten Years After. Ah, those riffs! Great guitar solos, a very heavy sound, a strong vocal. Additionally 3 bonus tracks from singles are included: two tracks from 1972 and one from 1974. A must! Condition: MINT (NEW , unsealed). (JL) -

German edition gathering two fantastic albums from 1973-1974. A combination of the best of early Black Sabbath and Grand Funk. Ah, those riffs! Great guitar solos, a very heavy sound, a strong vocal. Excellent sound, though rather modest artwork (compared with the Australian editions). A MUST! -
CD
CAMEL - CAMEL - Mirage +4 - EU Expanded Editionprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The second in the discography, an excellent (though somewhat derivative and as if belated) record, which is nevertheless a fascinating combination of the style of Caravan, Wishbone Ash and Genesis. The record includes the extended "Lady Fantasy" and "White Rider". This album (like the next one) should be in every serious record collection. 30 minutes more than on the LP. -
CD
CAN - CAN - Soon Over Babaluma - EU Remastered Edition - UNIKALNY CD - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
The group's sixth catalogue album, from 1974, and the first after the departure of Damo Suzuki — instead of attempting a replacement, the band turns towards a more instrumental, hypnotic side, where the voice becomes just one of the elements of the structure. Sonically the album is cleaner and more spacious than the earlier records, it is a more subtle album than the earlier work, but no less fascinating. ONLY ONE COPY! New, sealed -

CHICKEN SHACK (see also: Broken Glass / Savoy Brown) - CHICKEN SHACK - Goodbye - Live 1973 - UK Esoteric Remasteredprice: 100,00 PLN / 25,00 EUR
Recorded with a changed line-up but still containing a sizeable dose of classic heavy blues rock, a live album recorded in October 1973. In its day the album came out only in Germany (on the label Nova) in February 1974, when the band had in fact ceased to exist and Stan Webb was already a member of Savoy Brown...
