A revelation! Released in the summer of 1971, the second album by this great Japanese band is a splendid combination of the style of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, at times pushed almost to the extreme - with elements of two lead guitars in the style of Wishbone Ash! Plenty of surprising, ultra-heavy riffs, plenty of changes of tempo and mood, exemplary, slightly bluesy playing by the guitarist and zero filler. The only, small flaw of this sensational album was the vocalist's not entirely convincing English... But who really cares? Alongside the first two records by Flower Travellin' Band, this is probably the most cult album in the history of Japanese heavy rock, and in the original on the Denon label (and in almost perfect condition) it is currently worth 1000 dollars! Additionally included is an 8-minute live version of "Nightmare" (different from the one on the CD "Live!"), previously unreleased on CD! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

The live album recorded in 1971 had a somewhat more bluesy character than the LP "Demon...", although the band played even these well-known standards in their own way - very heavily and intensely - with countless extended improvisations. To tell the truth, I cannot recall any Anglo-American band that played so juicily and so mightily live! Compared with the old Japanese CD this edition has two more tracks - from the same concert! 74 minutes in total! Excellent sound quality. A must! -

Recorded in 1971 (unfortunately not released on vinyl in its day - only on CD in 1998), the live album was in the same, very intense heavy blues rock style (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and the Allman Brothers Band in one) as the brilliant studio albums "Demon And Eleven Children" and "Carmen Maki + Blues Creation" (both from 1971). Besides that the band presented several blues standards, serving merely as a pretext for heavy, dynamic, guitar-driven improvisations based on the mighty playing of the rhythm section. To tell the truth, I do not recall any Anglo-American formation that played so juicily and so uncompromisingly live! Compared with the Japanese CD this edition has three more tracks (one more than the European CD from the same concert) and - attention! - a different version, recorded a week later, of the track "Nightmare", unreleased on any LP. Excellent sound quality. A must! -

ANALOGUE SOUND! Super rare (especially complete - with obi strip and in perfect condition) first Japanese pressing from 1977 of the second album by a very underrated great hard rock formation, almost unknown outside Japan. The members of Metallica were big fans of the early Bow Wow records and one of the tracks (Silver Lightning) was seriously considered for a Metallica cover! To tell the truth, listening to this 40-minute, very competently produced and genuinely superb album it is hard to believe that it was made in the 70s! Among the ten compositions the musicians offered an atmospheric intro, a harmless ballad and eight more or less hard rock-metal numbers filled to the brim with guitar jams. The only thing that was not very thrilling was the rather average, though definitely acceptable, English vocals delivered with a Japanese manner. Complete with obi strip and a lyric insert. OUT OF PRINT! LAST COPIES! A French, limited reissue in a gatefold sleeve, from Absinthe, of the cult debut by guitarist Shinki Chen, released in February 1971 (earlier in Powerhouse and Food Brain, and right afterwards in Speed Glue & Shinki). The album was recorded with the help of, among others, Hiro Yanagida (a colleague from Food Brain), and it is dominated by heavy, Hendrix-style, bluesy, at times strongly psychedelic playing. A limited French edition in a gatefold sleeve of the cult debut album, released in 1973 by Japanese Columbia, by a progressive band (singing in Japanese - but not much) reminiscent of Pink Floyd (from the 'Meddle' period) and early Camel, combined (especially on the excellent second side) with Deep Purple and Atomic Rooster! A full side of the original vinyl was taken up by the great, 19-minute and very dark suite "An Old Castle Of Transylvania" (sometimes the whole album is called that), built on Hammond organ and sharp, overdriven guitar - sounding more like 1970 than 1973. This album will delight every lover of heavy progressive playing! The sound quality and the pressing of the black vinyl are excellent! A must! -

A Japanese hard-rock band that is to some extent, in the person of its leader/guitarist, an extension of the legendary Blues Creation. These are the first two records - not counting the title released between them with Felix Pappalardi (of Mountain). The debut is very good, a somewhat smoothed-out continuation of the heavy, massive sound known from Blues Creation albums - with fantastic guitar parts and a juicy sound! The second, from 1977, has a more funk-rock character and contains a stunning, very extended cover of "Happenings Ten Years Ago" from the repertoire of The Yardbirds! Both titles were once released only in Japan. Recommended! (JL) -

The album, released in 1973 (sometimes also called Nihonjin), contained only two compositions of nearly 20 minutes each, kept in the vein of guitar Pink Floyd ("Echoes"), but at times brushing against heavy rock in the style of Deep Purple. The somewhat oriental sound merely adds a special charm to this original record, sung in English. 2016 Irish reissue, in a gatefold sleeve, of the excellent Japanese album. A cut-out insert is included with the record. NOTE! The original vinyl from the period is worth over 1000 euros! An absolute must! -

A European edition of the excellent third album, released in 1972, by the classics of heavy progressive rock from Japan. Although, inspired in part by the style of Deep Purple of the time, FTB are best known for their first two albums ("Anywhere" from 1970 and "Satori" from 1971), "Made In Japan", made a year later, though for the most part more progressive in character, was in quality hardly inferior to them at all! Note! The label added to the album's content a very interesting, though stylistically somewhat different, bonus track, that is "The Flowers", a 27-minute heavy, psychedelic jam recorded back in 1970 by the band preceding Flower Travellin' Band, Yuya Uchida & The Flowers.
