VARIOUS ARTISTS - Les Cousins - Soundtrack Of Soho's Legendary Folk & Blues Club (3CD BOX) - UK Strawberry Edition

A three-disc set containing recordings by artists centred around the Les Cousins club, opened in April 1965 in the basement of a restaurant on Greek Street in London's Soho, which became the epicentre of the mid-sixties folk revival. Al Stewart, Davy Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Sandy Denny, John Martyn, Alexis Korner, The Strawbs, Roy Harper, Paul Simon and many others performed there. The whole thing comes in a rigid box, with a booklet containing notes by Ian A. Anderson, a historian of the folk scene associated with the magazine "Folk Roots", and also a musician who performed on the Les Cousins stage. Highly recommended! (MU)
