British CD from Big Beat containing the two best titles by the legendary progressive British band. The first, genuinely brilliant album was recorded by the line-up of Wyatt/Ayers/Ratledge and genuinely was ahead of its time, combining psychedelia with jazzy rock in its own way. The second record was of a similar, though more jazzy, character. Without early Soft Machine there probably would have been no Caravan, Egg and Gong! In all 75 minutes of stunning, imaginative music. A MUST! (JL)
