SATIN WHALE - Desert Places - GER ICON Press - LISTEN - VERY RARE

A superb debut album, released in 1974 by Brain Metronome (and sounding like 1972), by a German band playing refreshing, energetic and fairly melodic/catchy progressive rock (lots of Hammond organ, lots of flute, electric guitars, powerful, dense drums) in the vein of the best moments of Jane, Eloy, Out Of Focus, Nektar and Twenty Sixty Six And Then - with a pinch of Jethro Tull (flute). Every track is great - there really is no filler and none of the later, art-rock moping. To tell the truth, as far as more commercial, heavier krautrock goes, this is an exemplary record and it is recommended to all lovers of old rock! Excellent sound! A MUST!
