BUDGIE - Live At The BBC 1972 - UK Maida Vale / Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RARE

This limited vinyl, released in a run of 500 copies in an attractive, laminated sleeve, contains two legendary radio sessions recorded for the BBC by the Welsh trio (the original line-up with Ray Phillips!) in 1972. The first side contains four recordings made between the first and second albums - in February. The band played exquisitely (better than on the records), and the sound quality is good - miles better than the hissy and heavily muffled excerpt on the long-deleted CD "Heavier Than Air" and SLIGHTLY BETTER than on the LP "BBC Sessions 1972", released by Loudspeaker. Now it is really good, though not ideal. The second part of the vinyl, meanwhile, is a brilliant, half-hour fragment of a concert recorded by the BBC in October 1972 (soon after the release of the LP "Squawk") and played for a small audience at London's Paris Theatre. This perfect and genuinely pin-you-to-your-seat material is known from the official CD "BBC Recordings" (and from the promotional, ultra-rare BBC radio vinyl of 46 years ago), but here it sounds even better, since it has more bass and guitar! Besides, for the first time on vinyl the announcements between tracks have been included. Overall this collectable vinyl is 55 minutes from the top shelf of rock! It is without doubt an essential item in every self-respecting heavy rock collection and at the same time a guaranteed future rarity!
