BOLTON IRON MAIDEN - Maiden Flight - SPA Sommor Press - LISTEN

Bolton Iron Maiden were a group active in 1970-1976, inspired by Led Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Groundhogs or Andromeda. Their music combined blues, hard rock and progressive elements. They built a fairly strong reputation by supporting bands such as UFO, Bedlam, Caravan and Thin Lizzy. They broke up after the death of guitarist Ian Boulton-Smith, who died of cancer. In 2005 the band's drummer, Paul T.J. O'Neill, revived interest in BIM by releasing the albums "Maiden Flight" (in 2005) and "Boulton Rides Again" (two years later), compilations of studio and live recordings. The proceeds from these albums were donated to organisations fighting cancer. After consultations with the better-known Iron Maiden and their manager Rod Smallwood, the band adopted the name Bolton Iron Maiden, to avoid confusion. Released in 2025 by the Spanish label Sommor, on vinyl for the first time, "Maiden Flight" contains previously unreleased studio recordings from 1972 and raw live recordings from (around) 1975. An edition on black vinyl, with an insert included.
