HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - BBC Live In Concert (November 1970 - March 1971) - UK Maida Vale / Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
The drummer Keef Hartley replaced Ringo Starr in Rory Storm & The Hurricanes (when the latter left for The Beatles), then played in The Artwoods, then in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and finally in 1968 founded his own band, to which he invited excellent musicians and the brass section of the aforementioned Mayall. This excellent LP, lasting 53 minutes and released in 500 copies, contains two live performances by the band - from November 1970 and March 1971 - made for a small audience gathered in a BBC radio studio. It is the best Keef Hartley Band one can imagine - especially the 25-minute "Medley" filling the whole first side - recorded with only five people, without a large brass section. Progressive, jazzy, powerful-sounding playing - much better than the music on the catalogue "Little Big Band"! The sound quality is excellent (Side 1) or almost ideal (Side 2), and the pressing perfect! All of the material appeared earlier on the sold-out, double LP "Live At The BBC 1969-1971". For CD lovers I recommend the similarly compiled CD "British Radio Sessions", expanded by nearly 30 minutes! A MUST! NEW, SEALED. -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - British Radio Sessions 1969-1971 - FRA On The Air Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
An excellent, unofficial 80-minute item, released in 500 copies, from 1969-1971, coming from the BBC archives, more precisely from vinyls from the BBC Transcription Disc series (very rare and expensive), issued in its day in a hundred copies. The first three tracks were made live, last 40 minutes and are a class of their own! This is the best Keef Hartley Band you can imagine - especially the opening "Medley" - recorded by just five people, without a large brass section! Progressive, jazzy, powerful-sounding playing - much better than the music on the catalogue "Little Big Band"! Then several studio, radio recordings from 1969 (from the period of the first two albums), then two tracks from the period of the LP "Overdog", and as a bonus two recordings by Miller Anderson with the band, made just after his departure from KHB. The sound quality is excellent, because almost everything comes from mastered vinyls, and not, as is sometimes the case with radio recordings, from an average copy of a radio broadcast... The photo inside the sleeve comes from the Woodstock festival, and the band did not appear in the film (or on the record) because its manager demanded money for filming! C'est la vie... With the exception of two tracks (2 and 3) the whole is unreleased on CD! A MUST! -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - Little Big Band - EU Press - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A great live album, closing the best period of the band's work. It was also the last record with Gary Thain on bass and Miller Anderson on guitar and vocals. The second part of the album is filled with a 25-minute quasi-suite, made up of recordings from the debut album. Quite a lot of blowing of horns. 2015 reissue, in a gatefold sleeve, sealed. -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - KEEF HARTLEY BAND - Halfbreed - EU Walhalla Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
'Halfbreed' is a fantastic, jazz-blues-progressive debut by a band led by the former drummer of The Artwoods and the Bluesbreakers. This is how the best album of John Mayall's career should have sounded, had he not disbanded the group after the LP "Blues From Laurel Canyon" and... receded somewhat into the shadows! It is hard to imagine better progressive-blues playing! This is a record for fans of such titles as "Blues From Laurel Canyon", "Tons Of Sobs" and "Barbed Wire Sandwich". An absolute must! -

The sixth album, and the first recorded after the departure of Miller Anderson and Gary Thain. Good, though clearly weaker playing than on the records from 1969-1971... 1994 edition. -

An Irish edition of the excellent, third album by the blues-jazz-progressive band with Miller Anderson on guitar and Gary Thain on bass. The record features the brass section of the band Galliard - which can be heard especially on tracks 4 and 5... Highly recommended! -

HARTLEY, KEEF -BAND- (see also: John Mayall / Artwoods / Uriah Heep / Dog Soldier / Hemlock) - THE KEEF HARTLEY BAND – Live at Essen Pop and Blues Festival 1969 / 1970 (2CD)price: 130,00 PLN / 32,50 EUR
A German, two-disc CD containing previously unreleased, official material from the period of the 2nd and 3rd records, recorded at two annual rock festivals in Essen: in 1969 and 1970. Splendid, jazz-blues-progressive playing with extended versions of well-known pieces and with long improvisations. The artwork is rather off-putting, but the music is top-shelf! A MUST! (JL)
